Help Starting Grow !

Sup guys,
just found this site and figured it'd be the perfect place to get some help designing my AG grow. My growing experience is pretty limited (2 small plants, indoors, soil, ~3months of growth).

I read the stickied posts and they had lots of good info. Here is where I'm at--

AeroGarden: either the AG 6 or 7 series- getting it in 2 days.

#How many plants should I start?
#How many CFL's in addition to the AG lights?
#How will the lighting work? (Sup with the Fig 8 cable?)
#Additional nutes and pH kit needed?
#What is the average growth time for AG grows? (veg, harvest, etc) And with that, what type of yields are expected? How can yield be maximized?

Thanks for any help, now time to roast a bowl :-P

Impulse420: It would be best to check the related posts before you start. More than two plants is usually too many for a standard seven holes unit.
If you've got a three lamp hood there should be no need for more lighting unless you love supporting the Edison company. Look at the post on mirrors and Mylar.
The lights are good until you want to start flowering then you'll need a timer and a figure eight cord.
I'm not using A/G nutes anymore there were too many problems. Get the best you can afford from your local hydroponics store and yes, you will need a pH kit because you have to test and adjust it every day.
As for the average growth, I'm in no hurry. I let nature take it's course and figure on three to four months to harvest but it's worth the wait. As far as maximizing your yield, you've got a lot of reading to do. Start with Cervantes's bible on medical M/J and everything from A/G you can get your hands on. You've a got a lot of reading to do my friend.

First off welcome to RIU. Secondly, if you are using fem seeds, only start one. I started five once and thank god three were makes. I would have no room with five sets of roots. Thirdly, you are probably going to want more light. Check out my sig for an example. You don't have to go off the deep end like I did but you'll get the idea. You'll have to let me know if you start a grow journal.

Good info, thanks for the replies.

I've done some more thinking and I realize that I don't know what (ie. box) to grow in. Will be inside a closet- I was thinking of using cardboard box.

Stealth
(scent control!) is a priority. So, I will need air circulation (another reason for cardboard boxes is ability to flush-mount those PC fans). Never worked with them, but very interesting.
I am planning on an exhaust coming from the top of the box. PC fan with some type of attached filter?

Anyone have any box designs to suggest?

Thanks again

My grow setup is in a green rubbermaid roughneck box thats used for just anything (fits an aerogarden well, scope my thread), and its in my closet. Also keeping it in a closet, would make your light cycles 100% no exterior light coming in when your plants sleeping, or a light-tight PC-case.

I'd say crack the door closet somewhat, (my setup is my room connected to my closet and I have a big open window) only crack it when its on and when its asleep close it, try and mix the time cycles with when your awake and asleep.

Be careful of cardboard or any wood byproduct. I did it once and I had problems with mold. Closets don't usually give you enough circulation of fresh air.
