(Help) Update on my first mushroom grow

How many cakes do you have in your fruiting chamber? You should do like 10 or 12 at a time. Fill that thing up bro haha.
Lol i need bigger lights and more substrate jars. maybe even a bigger fruiting chamber. I only had one cake. I don't think i could fit 12 lol

Where did you get the spores man? There are other ways for better yields but this is very simple and good to begin with.
i got the spores on a website that stopped selling them a week after i bought from them. I'm trying to get a substrate I can easily pour into a tray and case with a layer of vermiculite. I hear that increases the yield quite a bit.

You can go with a grain like popcorn. In essence. Grains can be easier than pftek.

It only takes about 1 - 2 cc from the syringe to make a live culture. Mycotopia website has all the info you will need. Also spore depot is a good supplier.
I got my last batch of syringes from the spore depot (tsd). I put SHROOMERY in shopping cart comments section and they sent me a free syringe. I purchased the 7 syringe deal and got 8 for thw varied genetics. All are working. Gonna start taking prints later.

I'll use the last cc's of each for some liquid cultures to bulk. Just gotta start practicing again. Been a while.

Microtech has treated me well. I have their cambodians in jars and coming on fast. B+ are about at the end of their life cycle. Golden teachers are still producing. The golden teachers from microtech were the absolute slowest ive ever seen to fully colonize though...
I took prints of the b+ and gt. Will do the same for the cambodians.

I read that popcorn is extremely prone to contaminants. Is that not true?
I don't know. I guess that all depends upon the grower. I'm into doing the over night soak though. Boil, simmer, innoculate, colonize, transfer or case.

The cost of a bag of popcorn. A few cc's from a syringe. The fact that the shrooms will be better than the standard pftek. Compare that to all the different steps that you would have to do with pftek. The chances for any type of contamination are the same or less than what could occur with pftek.

IMHO. I think that it is not onlyvworth a try. But, it's something that you should try A.S.A.P.

If the popcorn is too wet you will have problems but otherwise no.

Not more prone than any other grains and less than flour mixtures.

Is there a link somewhere that provides a full tutorial on how to do this? I'm down to my last 2 substrate jars which are currently in the process of colonizing. I still need to buy a pressure cooker as well

Look at the sticky on page one of this forum section. Or just google it. Way too many sources for it.
