I grow with LED and have had great results.
Some important things to think about when choosing your LEDs:
More units are better then bigger units, this is because the peak efficiency for leds is directly underneath them, so when trying to cover multiple plants its better to buy enough units that all plants are getting maximum coverage (personnaly I grow with 3 180w led units over 5 plants in a 2x3 closet tent.
Spectrum is very important, don't buy units with only red/blue spectrum, look for units that have at least 6 band spectrums and are geared towards flowering plants, lights geared for veg wont perform as well during flower but lights geared for flower will still do very well for veg.
Use units with no less then 3w per bulb, 5w units are preferable but more expensive, anything less will not provide enough penetration for large plants.
Don't let naysayers get to you, early LED units were terrible compared to more conventional lights which is where a lot of the hate towards them comes from, modern LED lights provide results that are just as good as hid lighting but with much less heat and energy use, however initial costs for LEDs are still high and they don't provide as good of coverage as HID lights unless your using multiple or extremely large units.
Ultimatly you need to choose the lights that are going to work best for your grow, and if like me your growing in a small space like a closet I personnaly believe LED are the correct choice, I couldn't imagine trying to run a 600w hps light in my closet all summer long and still being able to sleep in the same room without sweating to death, and noisey ventilation and extensive ducting is not an option for me as I can only ventilate air to my closet to or from my bedroom.
Hopefully you find this information helpful
