I was wondering how I could pull apart a PC and use its fan and power source to run the fan. I have an old 1 to use. And I'm not sure how to wire one. I read tutorial on a dc adaptor but thats with 2 wires I have seen some PC fans have all these little wires that go to a plug. I was wondering how to use the PC's own power supply how to pull it out and such.

Easy man! take out the CPU fan with the wires connected to it, you only need 2 wires so chop off the remote wire, then you have a few options, you can either use a phone charger cut off the end that connects to the phone and join the CPU fan and the old phone charger lead, and a better way to do it is go to an electrical store ie. Maplin Electronics and buy a transformer plug it has a rotate button on it that controls the voltage, in this case (speed). Just cut the connecting end off the transformer plug, and attach the fan to the transformer now you have a working fan and a dial to control the speed of the air intake/exhaust (outtake). I may have a pic, Ill have a look in a min. ps i wouldnt use the pc's power supply cos you cant control the voltage and you will prob. be wasting electricity, and the unit will get hot because you ve used its cooling fan :) hope this helps! - STELTHY :)

thanks for the info but does the power supply have to be a cell charger can it be a 12 volt ac adaptor?
It can be a 12v adaptor, but i wouldnt go higher than 12v cos you could burn it out! i recomend a transformer 3 - 12v adapter tho cos in early growth a light breeze is all you need and as they mature more airflow is needed, use a universal AC/DC adapter and you have more control over the speed of the fan/s. a phone charger was just an example, A transformer plug is ur best bet and they're only ten quid. Hope this helps STELTHY :):leaf:
