Hey all, I just took my first cuttings, I followed directions that I found on a site, and im pretty sure I did everything right....they been in the humidity dome only a few hours and their all starting to wilt, looking like their dying....Is this normal until they start growing roots or did I do something wrong.....I have them in a humidity dome with 2 open holes on top for ventilation, and their under 100watts fluroresnt bulbs about 6 inches from the top of the dome.....in the tray I have alittle bit of water, and I only sprayed them once so far with pH balenced water.....if anyone can help me, please, Thanks!!!

They'll revive. I'd close the top of the dome if it were me. If you want to avoid that severe of wilt in the future, try placing your cuttings in a cup of tap water immediately after you cut it. I place a couple of drops of SuperThrive in a bowl of tap water. The cuttings will soak it up and they'll rarely wilt on you if you get them straight into the medium and under the dome. Your lights are OK Just make sure the medium isn't getting soaked sitting in water.

Good luck...

thanks for the fast reply, i'll close the vents on the dome now...theirs also very little water in the try so the medium isnt really gettin soaked.....but should I empty it all together and just continue to mist them?

try cutting those fan leaves in half. I have had trouble cloning and i was told to cut the fan leaves in half, i did so and the plants sprung back to life the next day.

Aww man i will tell you this from experience.....there will be shit that you forget to do that will make your plants look shitty .....when that happens u will NEVER do it again that shit will be the first thing you check. I took a lil time off and when I got back going again i was doing all types of shit to kill my ladies. Glad I made it thru that! But your problem is the open vent for sure. Try not to pull them vents open for a week then slowly start to open them. Some may be strong enopugh some may not be. What I am doing now is pulling out the stronger ones and letting the others get stronger. I do notice the lil flimsy cuttings are not the best, cut some nice and thick stems and they will perform better. I have decided to just buy a cloner becuase I have made so many DIY ones I could have just made the purchase a long time ago. I got the GH Rain forest just to see how it works, I paid 250 for it but the vortex sprayer retails for like 140 so i can always take it out and incorporate it into one of my trays! I havent ran it yet but when i do my next cuttings imma rev her up.
