help with first grow

Ok so I'm getting ready to start my first grow and it's going to be in soil and with a 250watt hps light and I have a few questions before I start.

FYI- Going to grow BigBud x Northern Lights.

How close can I keep my light to my plant?

What size pot should I use?

What's the best soil and where can I get it?

What nutes should I use for vegging and flowering?

How much nutes should I use and when should I use them?

And for watering I hear to use a moister meter that you put in the soil. How do I use this to help me make my watering schedule?

LOL....do you want me to hold your hand as well and help you grow......rofl JK....we all gotta start somewhere......K start with basics
there are some light charts that you can follow but for a 250 watt usually keep it around 8-12 in away may be closer or may be a little farther (depending on heat..etc.)
If im growing soil I use 5- 7 1/2 gallon pots but i hate growing soil....to slow..........
A good brand of soil is called fox farm......As for Nutes since u are a noob you should use general hydros "keep it simple soultion" Its a mixture of floragro, floramicro, florabloom, florablend, floralicious, and liquid koolbloom.....You should go to the general hydro website....they have a custom nute conversion chart for nutes to gallon per water
