help with grow room/lighting and vents!

Hey so i'm an obvious first time grower and started growing under my stairs with some fluoro's for about 7 weeks (first 2 pics) they seem pretty small. Now for some reason I thought I could cheat my way thru this and keep them there but there is to much light penetration. So I thought getting a tent would be the cheapest and simplest option. Now i found a good one for about $120 and a 400w HPS/MH kit with ballast for $160cdn!(next 2 pics) Anywhere else is Ontario is 3x the price. Also this store is only 45min away so free shipping via my car heh. Anyway $280 later I now realize i have to ventilate the crap outa this thing. so found a carbon scruber + 340cfm inline fan combo for $250cnd and thats all i have found so far but i'm guessing i'll need one more fan at least (not inlcuding a simple rotating fan on plants).

Now my other option is this store sells LED lights. Does anyone know how many watts of LED light are equal to a 400w HPS? The store is selling a "120W Quad Band LED GROW LIGHT UFO 120 WATT - SPECS 660R 460B, 610O" (last pic) for $180. So i was thinking if I got 2 of those could i skip out on alot of that ventilation stuff since it won't really get much heat?

i'm at a crossroad and gotta think of something soon. Also gonna replant them into larger pots once I start to flower.

You have everything you need now why would you want to go and get more.

You can install a cooltube and vent it all out the top of your grow tent.

Have a hole somewhere near the bottom (your tent should already have a hole in it) and use it as a passive intake.

the fan will pull enough air through the passive intake to keep your plants happy.

another tip is dont have your ballast inside your grow tent as this will only add to the temps

so the scrubber goes inside the grow tent attached to the air cooler hood? or does it attach to the 6" hole in the tent and use ducting to reach the cooler hood?

also if its only a 400w hps and 3 small plants do i really need to vent it outside/out of the way? if the carbon filter takes the smell out won't it just be regular hot air? my basement is always cold so a bit of hot air down here would never hurt

The scrubber goes first inside your grow tent
Then duct it to a cooltube then duct that to your inline fan. You can mount the fan inside or outside your grow tent as long as it is working.

So to clarify

Scrubber - cooltube - fan

People often underestimate how much heat comes from lamps

I have a 600w and i underestimated how hot it was going to get.

You could see temps in your tent of 90+ if you do not vent it out of there. You could vent it into your basement and hope that the ambient temps dont rise.

Personally i have a closet grow in a spare bedroom upstairs in my house and i vent mine into my attic space.

Ohh ok I got ya. That doesn't seem too hard. I was worried about causing some electrical fire lol. So can i just use duct tape to connect the ducting to everything? There is a window in the room we're putting it in so if it does get bad theres always that. I guess i was making it more complicated than it had to be heh

Thats it.

You can use duct tape but i personally use metal clips to attach everything together.
Other people use plastic ZIP TIES to keep everything in place. Personally i like the metal ones because i know once it is tightened it isnt going anywhere.
