Help With LED for Micro Grow Project.

I'm just kicking this idea around. My garden is in flower right now and I need a project to keep me busy.

I want to make a really cool micro grow. Something large enough to yield 1/2 ounce. Maybe a 1 sqft space.

I know this sounds crazy, but has anyone ever tried growing with Christmas tree lights? They make the LED ones now.. Imagine it. What if we completely lined a PC case with these lights?

Also, what about these household LED light bulbs they sell at Home Depot? Who has tried those? Any tips on using those?

Finally.. Is there a decent cheapie UFO that is worth the cost of shipping? Figure my space may be a 1ft x 1ft space with one plant in a 1 gallon pot grown 12/12 from seed. I like the idea of a UFO in this space. The less watts I need to run, the better. I want this to be as economical as possible.

CREE household bulbs and spotlights are your best choice IMHO from the choices you've listed. Look for captainmorgans CREE bulb thread in the LED section for tips and advice. The Apollo isn't great for weed and their quality was suspect in the past. Run a bit hot too. 4 Cree bulbs in a 12x12 should get you what you want. DIY COB light would be even better.
