hmmm, i'm not sure....but i'm just gonna go ahead and say it. I'd be hesitant to use any ballast that's not a good name brand. I've heard of them blowing up on people before. I would not want to come back to my house one day and find it burnt to the ground, cause of some shoddy 2nd hand knock off brand ballast that was made in the phillipines somewhere lol

You have a Metal halide magnetic Ballast good for 400, it is a high bay style used mostly in factories etc... you can grow with it just as good as anything, it will have an internal ignitor, the thing you will need to know is what voltage is it wired for, if you are using residential wireing you will want it wired for 120volts, it has a multi tap tranformer that can be wired to 277 volts and 347 volts, which are popular voltages in commercial or industrial applications. I you want there are conversion bulbs which will allow you to run HPS conversion bulb. Main thing you need to know now is what voltage is it wired for. BTW when you get a MH bulb it will need to be an M59 football style.

Peace

I can clearly see the Under Writers Limited Symbol on the casing which is an acceptable safety standard world wide, should be fail safe construction, I have never heard of High bays blowing up.

I have the m59 lamp type bulb
its says pri volts 120/277/347, the person who gave me the ballast used it years ago himself for the same thing.

Listen to SativaDragon. Find out if its wired for 120 volts and you are good to go. If you feel uncomfortable a new 400 MH or HPS are not crazy expensive.

Peace man I used to love these ballasts, because of the simple fact you can get them cheap with no hydro store markup! Plus they do exactly the same shit as a metal halide fixture from the grow store. I got mine free from a construction sight way back when tee hee, they were just sitting to close to the road near a dumpster, I tend to see an op and capitalize...

Can you plug it into the wall where you live or is there a funky ass plug on the end?

Peace
Its got a standard wall outlet with a ground on it. I assume because it says 120 volts on it I'm fine (But I prefer facts over assumptions).... How much would a new (decent) ballast, and a reflective hood run me?

Just for flowering Dude, Use the one you got unless it is ancient, otherwise get a brand new MH, then when flowering use the Conversion Bulb.
