The room is 12 ft lenth, 10 ft height, and 3.5 with what would be better 1000w or 600w and also how many lights would be better?
I'm just getting into hid lighting, I was using t5s (and I averaged QP per plant with t5s with soil, so you can get an idea)but def the 1000watter for flowering, how many I'm not sure hopefully someone will be able to help you out on that, I am sure they will!

The best advice I can give you when growing 4 plants is the low stress training. Dirt or hydro it will greatly increase your yields. I'd have 6 large colas per plant instead of one.

So how many lights would you recommend? Im also putting an exhaust fan with a carbon filter and multiple fans in there and if it gets too hot a small ac as well so heat wont be a problem

One light will work for 4 plants. But if you run a veg and a flower room you can always have plants ready to flower when the flowering plants are finishing up. I used one t5 4 ft 8 bulb light for my veg room, one 2ft 4 bulb light t5 for my clones and a 600 watt hps for flower. You definitely need an inline fan for the hps. I even ran my light cycle at night to help with the heat in the summer months. The cool hoods let you get the light closer to the plant also

I had to run a dehumidifier because little did I know I had a leak in the wall which lead to me having to tear everything out and rebuild. I found salamanders living in the walls it was so wet a rotten.

I've read through your thread and see you keep asking how many lights for 4 plants......this question has allot of different factors.
What pants will be grown?
How long do you plan to Veg?
Being the size of room and in general you could obviously start 4 under 1 600 then use 2 for flower. Sounds like your on 600's.
Starting out IMO use soil or professional growing medium, dirt is garbage. I have no comment on hydro as I don't do hydro.

I'd say 3 600's would be good. Splitting it into two rooms and getting a perpetual going would be nice IMO. I would use a 3.5' x 4' to veg in, and flower in the remaining 3.5' x 8'. That would put u in the game big time. I have a 1000w DE, and they are HOT, I pulled mine and stuck my aircooled hood back up, they are challenging to cool in cramped spaces.

Agreed with Tim, 600w mh then 2 600w hps. Just gotta worry about keeping it cool.
cool it with some 440cfm inline fans or something. I use one on each of my two lights, but you maybe able to cool two with one, or up the cfm rating to cool 2.

I'd stick with soil or soilless on my first grow, My first went smooth as a baby's ass with sunshine#4 and the GO box for nutes.

If you ain't got no job, and nothing but time, then hydro is where its at. If your not able to check your plants every 6 hours and low on funds then just stick with dirt. It will take some time and experience to even consider testing your hydro against your dirt harvest(5 years atleast). As far as taste, alot has to do with how the grower used his hydro setup.

So if use gavita lights 3 will do the job for flowering and 1 for veg?

please please please for the love of god look into CMH lighting. HPS is like a toyota and CMH is a lexus, you could buy 3 toyotas for the price of a lexus, and the three toyotas combined have more horsepower, but trust me dawg, you really want that lexus don't you?

@GroErr and @a senile fungus and a few others on here know what's up with it, also, they perform like 600Ws with many arguing better quality (myself included) and they use 315 watts. cheaper to run and you can put more on the same circuit.

I think three of these would cover your space, and the only major downside to these is they're not air cooled, so temps can be an issue, but with 10 feet of vertical height I think you'd be golden!!!
