Lol, I love food crops, the trick is to guess what foods will be expensive that year...
when I plant potatoes they are $3 for a giant bag, when I grow corn, same thing, when I don't the fooking prices skyrocket.
I noticed lately that fruit are getting expensive, so I'm no turning to growing fruit, as I don't realy eat many vegetables, but love fruit.
oyster mushrooms are a good choice, good food source, can be resold at a good price, and is pretty easy to grow, that stuff eats fucking everything it seems.
I have a friend who lives in a flat, when he visits me, he chops wood to take the splinters to grow oysters on... oh and any old paper or boxes...
