HEMPY 2 Liter SOG #1

Well if they are 10" in Veg before the flip, and your expecting 3xs more, that is gonna make some Super tall plants for a 2 liter SOG I think. I suppose it depends on what your doing, but if they get too tall, then you end up having the problem with Light getting down far enough to fill your entire Stem with Cola Growth, and I suppose that depends on the light your using.

Lucas seems to work well in the Hempy's, and I did have to add the CalMag.. Couldn't get by without it unfortunately.

I also have to mention my current run with the Vermiculite mixed in, is not doing as well as the 100% perlite right next to it. The Verm that I water every other day, is showing more deficiencies than the 100% Perlite being watered every day.. They are getting the same mix of feed, just the Perlite gets the left over mix the next day and the Verm Mix does not. Not saying to do it, just saying I am seeing an issue, and this is my first run in Flower with the Mix.. I usually run straight perlite in Flower, and the Mix I use for the Solo Cups.. I even veg in 100% perlite, and now the Summer is gone, I am not having to water every day if I dont want to.. Those summer months were really drying out the buckets.
What are you PH'ing them to?

I have a DR90 with a 400 watt HPS. The 400 watter will penetrate about 2 ft down which is perfect. I could kick them off at 8" though. Just hoping to get about a half zip per plant.

It allowed me to have a good head stash while everything else could be "liquidated" to all the fine people in and around my area. That and it gave me a nice project that ended up working out for the best.
When im growing regular plants i usually flip them once they hit the 15" tall mark, whether it be hydro or soil. This time im only vegging for 2 weeks to 3 weeks max and then making the switch. Ice can get almost 3 feet tall in a 2 liter bottle, as i have come to find out. :) The picture bellow is from my thread i started "Black Ice"

NICE WORK!! Are you constantly controlling the Side Branching, or just let it do its thing?

Depends on the strain. With ICE i let her do her thing but with say blue mystic, or anything purer in indica, i have to stay up with training but not as much as a regular plant. With my grow coming up (seeds are started plus a few clones on their way) ill be LST'ing them like crazy to keep em low. I have my 400 hps and with space should be getting nearly 12,000 lumens per sq ft. That's better than outdoors. :)
In case you're wondering i have 3 ICE going and 3 C99's as well as a few Alien Nightmare clones. Not to mention i have some Shaman and Special Kush#1 on their way. :)

I went ahead and purchased myself a new Oakton PH Meter yesterday cause of a Hunch, Conditioned and Calibrated it, and if the Readings I am getting are correct, Then it seems my Expensive Hanna Tri-Meter has not been entirely honest with me :wall:

This will probably explain quite a few issues I am having!!!

Better Late then Never I guess.. Unfortunately it does not really help me on my current run, but hopefully it will help get them through their final couple of weeks.

Where i was previously living I never needed a PH meter and I used only tap water. Straight from a well with vitamins and nutrients. :)
Then we move to where we are now and until recently, I haven't been able to grow anything hydroponically! Nothing worked for Germination, no method was useful. I used purified drinking water and distilled water and the results were always the same: The seeds would crack and that's it, No more growth. So I decided to buy some seedling soil from MG and now i have 100% germ/growth rates! I'm 4 for 4 with it. So hydro is out of the question for now and sticking with messy soil until we move back to So-Cal. The only soil i want there are outdoor beauties!

Did you add the Cal/Mag when you started seeing some rust spots on the leaves? I think I have that going on with a couple and was wondering.

Yes, when you start to see the problem, then go ahead and include a Half Dose of CalMag into your mix. Be sure your PH is in the right range, I believe my PH Meter was giving me false readings, and locking out some nutes on me. I have a new meter now and only 2 weeks left until harvest,, So not much time to see if the PH was my issue.

Thanks Rusty. Look forward to the new updated pics. Can't help but see your pic and think "come catcha ride!"

Thanks Mr, go check out my thread on it for more (and better, blacker) pics.
The one i shared here i was trying to show size and it's leaning against a an olympic weight bar for reference.
Theyre (well, were) in 2 liter bottles cut almost in half...

Okay,, I took some pics this morning.. Yea, I dont know why but I cannot get a good pic under HPS with the Galaxy S lll. It takes a nice pic, just everything is VERY Orange,, So I busted out the Galaxy TAB, and it doesn't have that problem.

You can see that some girls have filled out better than others.. The Fruity Chronic Really likes to make Big Bulbous tops instead of Long ones like the Northern Lights.

Im pretty convinced my PH Meter had been screwing me for the last few weeks, so that probably did not help with my grow, and certainly accounts for some of the deficiencies and odd growth I had been experiencing. This is kind of a bummer, but I have my new pen, which seems to be working well so far, and I have a new TDS Meter being delivered today ,, SO I will gladly dispose of the Hanna Tri Meter that I have hated the entire time I've had it.

Here is our Little Afghan Kush. She was cupped a week ago, and must have hit the res about last Monday, cause she is just starting to Bust Out Now!! Its very exciting!

And 3 Mothers going to be Bucketed this weekend, to start their Growing experience.
20121107_065918.jpg

Everyone above is getting 240ppm (.5) DAILY, cause when I go down in the morning and tip them over, no water comes out. I could probably let them go for a day without any problems, but I have noticed when I water daily, the roots grow faster. For example, when I first started in Hempy's (not too long ago), my first transplant from Solo Cup to 3 Gallon bucket took the roots 2 weeks to hit the res when I was watering them every other day (cause at the time I was afraid to overwater). Now, I water daily, and roots hit the res in 1 week (consistently). So at this point, I need roots to fill a res, so daily watering is what I do, then I can cut back to every other day, which seems to work just fine.

I Cupped these two girls last weekend. They will be for my next grow -> (2) Plant SCROG.. They are currently getting 130ppm (.5 conv)

What pen did you end up getting? I got the Oakton Eco Testr PH and the TDS Meter. Much cheaper than my Hanna Pen. So far, they seem to be accurate and holding calibration pretty well as far as I can tell, and they dont take 2 hrs slowly floating to a number.. If the New PH Pen is correct, then BOY Was my PH Off through this last grow. :cuss:

You know man, I looked through a TON of reviews, read a TON of recommendations and was more frustrated than when I started. Seems like you can't trust other people'e experiences because half of them don't know what they are doing. I had a Hanna 98129 PH/TDS/EC pen that I bought second hand from the homie, never realized there was a cap and storage solution fluid for my electrode!! Even calibarated, it was way off, for god knows how long. I had the pen for well over a year.

I got another Hanna 98129 for a pretty decent deal on Amazon at $132; I saw it for as much as $190+ from other vendors so I thought that was a decent deal...

Yea I was just never happy with my Hanna Pen. I actually returned the first one I got cause it did not seem to calibrate, so the second one would calibrate (kinda) but after doing the 2 point calibration (4.0 being the last cal), I would try to get a reading, and it would start at like 4.25 and S L O W L Y work its way up to a decent number. Would take 15-20 min to get it settled on a figure. God forbid it was off and I had to add some PH Up or Down, now its another 5-10 minutes to get it to settle on a number.

I don't know, maybe I just didn't know any better,, this was my first expensive PH Meter, and I just hated it.

And YES I was like you,, after all the research on PH Meters and Reviews, I think I was more confused than when I started,, What a Nightmare.. But I recently settled on a Somewhat cheap Oakton, and it gets right to the point without a whole lotta fuss, and when I dip it back into the 7.0 Solution, it goes right to 7.0 without stopping at GO or Collecting $200,, So I just purchased its twin TDS Meter.
