Hermaphrodite Problem

White Widow hermaphrodite.jpg

Hey guys,

I got some supposedly feminized White Widow seeds from a patient grower. However, two of them are males and one is a hermaphrodite. Here is a picture of the hermie.

My question is about pollen. Do you think this plant is producing pollen that could pollinate the other female, flowering plants in the grow room? Or do hermies not really product much pollen?

The plant had some heat damage toward the very top. Two leaves were burnt, so that may have caused it to go hermie.

I'm kind of bummed because I grew this plant in coco and was hoping it was female. Fuck.

Any input will be appreciated.

yup, spreading pollen as we write/read. hermies produce hermie seeds, not worth time/effort to continue the genetics IMO. you may be right, the stress may have caused the hermaphrodism to show.

this is why I always advocate against Femenized seeds. by nature, plants NEED to breed and forcing a plant to produce male flowers to self-polinate and create fem seeds is destroying plant genetics IMO. fem seeds have fem/hermie traits by the very nature of how they are produced. growers continue to grow them, they produce some seeds that some other end smoker grows out, same cycle. great for the grower who only has a few plants to worry about. but try having 10 strains of 50+ girls in various stages and having a acouple go hermie .... there goes the F*^%$in crop. I've lost $$thousands$$ in the last year due to bad genetics that hermied.

Thanks. As soon as I read the first post, I removed it from my grow room. It and my flowering plants were wrapped in mylar under a light (2 different areas, about 4' apart), so I'm hoping its pollen didn't get on any of the flowering folks.

Now I have 2 males and a hermie that I don't really care about or know what to do with.

How does Purple Maxx work?

I've heard some mixed things about hermaphrodite seeds. I'm growing some OG Kush seeds that came from a female clone that went hermie. I hope they turn out to be strong females, but who knows.

Still pretty pissed about the White Widow.....seems like a waste of space and light. Although, if I let it continue, it might produce some viable seeds.

if it the mother turned hermie then the clones have that exact same gene in them. they are the mother plant. this doesn't garuntee it will be because with genetics its always a gamble, and with regard to it growing good seeds i doubt it. its kinda like incest, you keep fucking your mother your going to get retards. same with the hermies. the trait for it to hermie could be dominant so the continual cycle of it pollinating itself will only strengthen the dominant traits. i've had nothing but problems from trying to grown seeds from hermie plants.
