if a plant goes hermie does that mean it can turn the other plants hermie? i heard hermies that were once females never actually produce pollen sacks therefore unable to harm the other ladies in the bunch....whats the word?

ive been growing for a lil over a year now and just got my first hermie when i switched form LED to HPS mid flower...i think the light change and heat change gave it a penis...

A hermie can't turn another plant hermie, but if they are all from the same batch of seeds then there is a chance that what happens to one plant may happen to others.

Hermies produce pollen sacs - that is why they are universally hated.

you say a hermie cant turn another plant hermie? then why does everyone say "to get the hermie out of there asap before it gets the other plants"?

and if they produce pollen sacks than don;t they cause other plants to hermie? i thought pollen around plants = male plants?

You "get them outa there" before the pollen that they produce pollinates your other females resulting in seedy buds.

Pollen around plants doesn't change plants into males, it just means you either have males or hermies in your grow that WILL pollinate your females, they won't CHANGE any other plant other than by pollination.

Once a plant is fully pollinated it will stop producing new flowers and divert all energies into seed production - smaller buds that are full of seeds.
Remove males/hermies and you get continued flower growth and no seeds.

Yes it does it will seed the rest of your crops with one open pollen sac so act quick don't be afraid to kill one plant to save many trust me

No, hermie plants are essentially female, with female flowers (buds). But for whatever reason they also develop male parts, the male pollen sacks. Also know as 'bananas'.

So you have a female plant that also has male pollen sacks. The pollen from the pollen sacks on the hermie plant will not only seed itself, it will also pollinate any other female plant you have in your grow. So the other plants will grow seeds, but that doesn't mean they themselves will also turn hermie.

Yes. Pollen can get distributed by fans etc. so it is good that you are cleaning everything.

I'm not sure exactly how long pollen is viable for but I do know that it dosent 'die' right away. People even save pollen for future use when they want to breed for seeds.

water neutralizes pollen. go to your local hydro shop and get a cleaning solution from them to was everything down with. if you do pick the bananas off while its still growing spray some water on it first to stop the pollen from getting airborne and killing it at the same time.
