HERMIE's good or bad?

I've red a lot of post in here where people say OMG its a hermie, sorry man looks like a hermie to me.

Why do most people view a hermie as a bad thing? Some of the best weed i've ever bought had a few seeds in it, and a hermie will produce all female seeds on itself and other females around it. So whats bad about all that? I guarantee you if you have ever bought feminised seeds they came from a hermie.

Lets hear from some of you as to why you view a hermie as a bad thing.

Natural hermies don't produce all female seeds. Female plants forced to turn hermie and even then it's no guarantee.

There's no such thing as a natural hermie, female plants turn hermie due to stress in one form or another (light stress or applying GIBBERELLIC ACID) but no canna plant is genitically coded for both sexes from the start. and all feminised seeds come from hermie's!

I played with Hermie's for about 2 runs, helped a friend harvest OD purple kush found mayb 10 to a pound. man iloved that smoke so i germed them.I run a 3x3 table f&d 400 watt hortilux. Now i know right i'd get herm's so i payed close attention, iam lucky i can play wid my girls 24/7. At 4or 5 wks flower i noticed some balls but only a few. harvest time came and it was about the same ratio didnt bother me @ the time i could'nt get enough kush. I did find a nice tasty krinkle leaf pheno that through a couple nanner's late n flower, but to late for seeds to develope. No more of that, like to hav clean gene's now. Females can sometimes throw balls or nanner's when there are no males detected. Gota love nature.:weed:

I would assume they are bad coz they spend time making pollen instead of nice buds and thc....apart from that, I dont think its a big deal....could be wrong tho

In my experience if the plant was a female clone or from female seed and it hermies the seeds will be female! They may not all germ but if they do they are female. If the hermie is from regular seed the hermie can produce male or female seeds. Thats why if you dont cath the hermie from regular seed in time it can ruin the whole crop. I have seen a female clone hermie and a seed open up and nothing was ruined because it did not produce male pollen! Just like the original poster said!

The weight of the pollen? :D

The flowers end up clogged with seeds, and the plant stops producing flowers and resin, switching to producing seeds. Also, if you end up with a harvest full of undeveloped seeds, they'll be too tiny to fish out, but smoking them gives you a headache.

Not only is that wrong, the opposite is true.

While generally plants will only express the the flower type appropriate to their genotype, all wild-growing cannabis plants have the hard-coded genetic ability to express pistillate (female) or stamenate (male) flowers, or BOTH (ie "go hermaphrodite"), and this DOES occur in nature.

Expression of this trait has been selectively bred out of strains for indoor growing, because its undesirable.

Why? Because indoors, a few male flowers could conceivably pollenize an entire ROOM of growing female plants, making them ALL seeded and ruining the crop.

And that, in a nutshell, is why "hermies" are bad.

Pharonic if its the only plant you have and you want to keep it, you could try pulling the male parts off and see if more apear. You may have to pull off more later on, but you can get your plant through flowering and get some smokeable bud with maybe a smaller mumber of seeds on the plant than leaving the male bits on. Obviously next time around just try to get good seeds from a reputable place, but atleast you'll have bud this time and will have gained some experience.

I see no pollen sack. I think you misidentify a seed sack for being a pollen sack tbh. They all get those close to the stem early in
flower. Did you remove the male parts in the pictures? This a Hermie with pollen sacks hermie-pollen-sacs-pistils.jpgCheers!
