its all down to male selection on this project. there is no 'right' answer for mother/father selection. grow out as many of either strain as you can and choose plants the have the traits your looking for, then grow out seeds you made. i bet with a decent test grow you would beable to find what your after. the fun thing about breeding, even thou you might not find waht your after, you might find sumthing special. thing have a way for working out like that.

best of luck

Real true breeding is an art. A true breeder, once they know what strains they want to cross, will begin with as many plants as possible and cross males and females of each plant with males and females of each other type of plant, making crosses with a male and a female and a female and a male of each phenotype with all other phenotypes. They search for which plants pass on traits they want to be passed on while not passing on unwanted traits.

Once they find what they believe to be the best, then they go about stabilizing the cross. Once stabilized, if nothing is lost in the process that might require another cross to try to put back what was lost and then stabilize again, only then is their job complete.

Breeding sounds cool and the gang to people but it just ends up adding more unstable or only partially stable mutts to the world that can end up later mucking up another strain when someone makes the mistake of using it in another cross.

I wish there were fewer pollen chuckers in the world cranking out mutts.

I undestand about keeping bloodlines clean..wanting to do so, The reality of mutts in a dog world is sickness and disease get bred outta mutts for instance.. Many german shepards have health problems hips, feet and ears if you cross a german shepard with a lets say black lab, many of the problems with the true bloodline will and can be erased with this mutt..the genetics have been altered and a new foundation is laid for the future without the high rate of disease.

The only issue with the mutt is that the offspring can and will show the wide spectrum of the genetic make-up, So outta a litter of mutts you will find a few puppies that have the ability to retrieve birds and guard your house without having hip problems!!! Let us not forget that unlike the dog world, In the plant world brother and sister can hump all day long and come out alright. You then have a new line to make breeding seletion for more uniform if you would like....I have went hunting with mutts before they can become rather impressive even though the don't LOOK like everyone else!
