Hey everybody,
Im brand new to the forum but i have been reading up on here for the past 2 weeks. I hate meeting you asking questions, butI am picking up 4 clones from a local clinic soon to start growing in a hydro set I just bought. I have already had two harvest but both were not hydro so im a little confused with those aspects of it. My first question when i gte the clones should i start them out in rockwool with the hydroton in the hydro system right when i get them or should i let them adjust to the rockwool, or should i even just skip the rockwool? also at anytime do i have to remove the plants from the rockwool or can i just leave them in there? My last question is how far down should i put the rockwool (if i use it) with the clone. Should the rockwool be visable or should it be covered with the hydroton. if you guys are wondering im using this hydro system eBay: HYDROPONICS 4 PLANT HYDRO SYSTEM + GROW LIGHT GUIDE (item 220127904577 end time Jul-11-07 08:21:37 PDT)
I also just want to make sure im correct on this i do leave the hydro sytem on 24/7, i dont turn it off when the lights are off. Hahaha sorry such newb questions i just want to make sure i have every aspect down before i pick up the clones. I would really appreiciate your advice.

Thank you,

yeah start them out in the rockwool and get put something over them so i collects water, i think theres something called a Hot Bed that does that, because the clones have to absorb water through their leaves because they have no roots

good luck

hey ez, are these clones aready rooted? if not id give them time to root, and mist them plenty. once theyve rooted you can place the cubes right in the hydroton.
in in the same situation right now ive been growing outdoors but im going to take a few cuttings into a small hydro setup like i mentioned, after rooting them. but then again that'll be my first indoor grow so im not 100% on that

I do not know yet i will be picking them up some time next week. If they are rooted how should i transfer them into the rockwool( i dont want to damage the roots) should i spilt the rock wool in half, so i dont have to shove all the roots down a hole? Also should i start them out under my 400w hps? Thanks for the advice ladyburn.

id imagine they'd already be in rockwool, if not already rooted in it...
if its soil, im really not sure how you'd go from that to hydro (or if thats possible without seriously shocking ur plants)
and yes i believe you could use your 400w when u put 'em in your system
but dont take my word for it lol maybe someone knows better
good luck

if they're in soil you can rinse the organic matter off and transfer to coco. rockwool is a good fail-safe; if the roots were just in hydroton, any kind of collision with the tray could separate the stalk from the roots. dead plants = no good. use just enough hydroton to block light from the rockwool. leave the pump on 24/7.

thanks for all the advice. I just have one more question when i put the rock wool with the clone should i water it with a cup for a number of weeks before the roots grow into the water? thanks again to everyone who has replied.
