Over? No.

I have Somango and AK-47 in my tent right now, three weeks from flip.

I don't mind the signs of aging....they are a sure sign that I am not dead yet.

I graduated HS in 76 so I missed the draft by a bit.
But - not satisfied with that I promptly enlisted.
Have to ask you....why?? I hated every minute of it. The United States Army is the most inefficient ran origination I have ever been associated with. If this is an example of how the gov't is run, no wonder we are bankrupt. Nobody does anything...they spend the day fucking off. Looking back...glad I had to go through it. I solidified the fact that I NEVER wanted to work for the United States government. And I never have!!

Not US Army - USCG.
I did a full pull, it had its ups and downs but coming out the other end I'd not have it any other way.

As far as work ethic between the services, of course you know the CG is the smallest of the 5 armed services & lay around we did not. It goes without saying that there is always a slacker or two in any organization - its upper echelon enlisted that makes the world go-round in any outfit, if they suck, everyone sucks !

Complete agreement with the whole governmental comparison tho.

I got so lucky! By the time I turned 18 they started bringing troops home from Nam. I thought I was a gonner for a while......I remember the night Walter Cronkite showed the leftovers of Hamburger Hill. And I remember the riots where college kids were spitting at the soldiers coming home. What a fucked up situation...while my Dad laid in VA Hospital with broken leg from a water skiing accident...there were shot up 18 & 19 year-olds in the same ward, fresh from Nam...an AK-47 round can really jump through a body is all I can say.

I'm way over 50! But I am male. So mentally, still about 14 :) In HS during the mid 60's I wasn't gonna be one of those long haired "potheads". Yeah sure....lol Tried to miss the draft. But it didn't miss me, unfortunately. Wasn't quick enough, I guess. During those days they were taking 30,000, of the 60,000, a month for the Marines. I admire the shit out of Marines. Semper Fi and all that. But I certainly wasn't a Marine. I was surfer from SoCal. I think I shot a BB gun, like twice. Too much surfing and not enough Jr College. So My 1S Turned into a 1A fast. When I did get drafted, at 19 1/2. I figured, one way or the other. I'd be cannon fodder :( So I joined the Air Farce, instead. WOW! 2 tours in Thailand certainly changed my mind about bud and potheads.....LOL Still haven't found any smoke that "knocks my dik in the dirt" like that Thai stick used too. Could it have been that it was laced with heroin and/or opium? Ummmmm could be....lol The price was good too. $.50 for 20 sticks... (revving up the DeLorean).

We were heroes, back then too. At least to each other. Even the ones that never made it overseas. We all had to put up with the idiocy and bureauracy. Shame the government fucked it up so bad. That us GI's wound up bearing the brunt of the all hate and resentment I never killed any babies. Although, I may have been responsible for the death of quite a few "ganja" plants.....lol

So 45 years of medicating. And now enjoying the "hobby" of growing. I think I stopped smoking once, for about 6 months. Damn, I believe I almost saw God when I started up again :eyesmoke: Maybe I should quit again? Nahhhhhhh bongsmilie

When I was looking to "beat the draft" I was checking out Army Helicopter pilot training. Looked good I could be a Warrant Officer with good pay and have most enlisted men salute me. Way cool.... Til I asked some pointed questions. And found out that like 80% of Army helicopter pilots don't/didn't finish their tours. Uhhh, no thanks I'll be over here in the long cannon fodder line, thank you :-)

My nephew is on his 5th tour in the sandbox as we speak - he's a Warrant Helo pilot & loves it.
As far as I know, pilots life span is not much different than anybody else's over there weo ground pounders.
Those dudes have it pretty rough mostly due to IED's and CQB issues.

Smoked first time when I was 15 in the summer of 72. Grew my first weed in 78, and grown outdoors ever since, though this is my first year for a total indoor grow. Be 56 in May.

I'm still here!!
I just heard that folks that have been smoking weed since the 60s and 70s are experiencing less Alzheimer's disease
than those that didn't...
Teaches those mother f♦♣kers for looking down their noses at us and saying we was gonna die from Marijuana use :) !!!!

I was too young (thank goodness) for Vietnam, but my uncle (who was a major pothead) said they would roll them in cannabis oil. Of course oil being a very high percentage of thc it packed a wallop. He also said, the bud that was not rolled in oil was still good, but there was a very noticeable difference.
