Ok people i need some opinions on the best way to sex plants. I have 21 JTR's...(i got a two for one bean) im vegging them in 2 gallon pots in a 6'x6' walk in closet befor i transplant to 5 gal pots and move them to the flower room. They are 4 or 5 weeks old and about a foot tall. Should i induce flowering to sex them, would it cause them to go hermi on me if i put them back in veg after sexing, or should i just wait for them to show sex on thier own ??? Any advice would be greatly aprecieated... Thanks Tuco!

if your patient they will sex naturally kinda depends on what you want if you want to keep a good male for some seed production just wait it out and take the last male to show its sex

If you're on a time schedule...you could take clones of all, root, and induce flowering on the clones.
That would tell you the sex of each plant, if you're not planning on producing seeds. Take Unnk's advice
for seeds, or if time is no issue like he said. just wanted to give you another option..

I've allowed some mixed S2s to flower on their own during veg on past few grows. 100% female rate so far with no stamens to pull. I gather it's added stress when forced to flower before their maturity. Or you can try 12 hrs blue led and 12 grow light to sex them during the veg period and then continue normal lights for the veg duration.

It rare a strain wont indicate at day 45 just look closely with a nice lens or magnifier males will always indicate first if you grow long enough you can almost pick a male just by the way they grow the dominant plants from seed will generally be the males

I'm not sure why people have so much trouble sexing plants by looking at preflowers. Hell, I'm old and I don't even need a magnifying glass to look at the preflowers once they've formed to tell what sex the plants are.:weed:

no, i thought he meant that there was a way to tell male/female when there are no preflowers. My plants (from seed) never show preflowers till I put them outside.

If there is a way to tell sex without preflowers I am unaware of it. Like sub said, I have yet to have a plant not show sex between 4-6 weeks and then it's a simple matter of looking at the nodes for those 2 little white hairs (or balls if that's what you're into. lol!).:weed:

BTW, that's really strange that your plants won't show sex until you put them outside. :???:

i thought something was wrong when my AO started showing sex in veg. but its kinda convientent to know and be able to clone, before flowering.

thanks Sub, thats a great trait, do all your strains do it?
