what upppppppppppp!

i saw, :( RIP dude, that suuuucks. we had an aphid problem for the last two weeks... one of the plants had some pretty good damage but most of them were salvageable. not sure exactly what got em in there, but having them outside from the beginning and bringing the youngest/smallest one into the tent while all the others were big n healthy was NOT a good idea. but like they say, live n learn! still harvested over 10 zips of smokeables, and over half of it was BOMB. got lots of compliments from unknowing friends ;)

we use coco fiber. the brick stuff is essentially the same but cheaper. the difference is that it requires more time and effort... and i'm busy and lazy, LOL. you have to put it in water to fluff it up (or whatever). also, lots of the bricks are not.. um.. idk the technical term but- clean? generally the coco hasn't been pre-cleaned and salt hasn't been washed off the fibers (coconuts grow near the ocean, the ocean has salt, wind blows it around, etc).

and thank you so much! :) my boyfriend saw what you said and said "it's because we're badasses..." haha. but the medium definitely has a big effect. based off what little knowledge i have of peat moss, it seems like it may keep the root environment too constantly moist and be too heavy to allow the roots to spread. also, we have BARELY started with nutes. they have only been fed three times, none of the feedings have been full strength yet either. definitely try it out with coco. but if you don't want to switch your medium, i'd recommend transplanting like i mentioned earlier into the same size pot but with significantly more perlite. i assume your pots have drainage holes, right?

Tell your man that's what I like to hear, keep it badass! But yeah plenty of drain holes. Ill see if I can get it resolved today by finding perlite locally.

very nice bud! 10 ozs is boss. i used my indoor for hash . 10 plants prolly 1lb+ sadly.
still was able to harvest my out door. got about 25 ozs or so. 2 plants i had were 8 oz +
but they were both bag seed. this yr everything will be genetics . outdoor and indoor.
and ya i had bugs early on and then the mold that killed my shit was likely due to not enough circulation
:( like u said live and learn. Good luck with thiis grow bud. couldnt u grow outside still if u wanted in texas?

definitely! although the temps around here have been super inconsistent. it was in the high 20s/low 30s this weekend, now it's 43 and windy lol. but... the temps in our tent are awesome! since it's chilly outside we don't have to use AC obviously.. the intake is all passive. right now it's 75 inside the tent and 73 in the room.

blitz, if you aren't in BFE you can find perlite at Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart... maybe Target if they have a garden section. good luck and keep me updated!

Drove four hrs just now to the nearest store just for 20 bucks worth perlite!!! Shit sucked but its a necessity at this point my plants just screeched to a hault for lack of air to the root zone I believe. Had homemade soil with some amendments and then I went and added a 2.2 cubic foot of peat moss to it so I had enough medium to last the winter months. Royally fucked myself on drainage and had to make this necessary trip for perlite. Live and learn. Ill have about 30 to 40 percent perlite. Will probably slap some pics up once they take off.

i know it's been less than 24 hours lol. but they've already grown so much! i'm a weed helicopter mom...
i didn't use any botanicare products last night, but i did use some of this stuff called Root Excelurator. it was a freebie from the place we go. wonder if any of the claims on their site are substantial. lol

The bottle I had (gold aluminum bottle) was really expensive and the design of the lid is awful, it leaks frequently.

I found it does very similar things to any other root booster from Canna or Botcanicare but at a higher cost. Not knocking HG at all, they clearly make good products but boy are they pricey.

$81 for 250ml of HG

$31 for 250ml of Canna Boost

Let me know your feedback ;)

yo yo yo! finals are over and no school for a month, fuck yeah!

transplanted all of them into 3gal plastic pots. we used cloth/smart pots last time but they were kind of a pain. having to 'rim' them was annoying. but... i'm already annoyed with these, as their drainage holes are pretty big. this allows a ton of coco/perlite to fall out when watering, which clogged my damn bathtub last night AND i had to add more dirt. rude! meh i'll figure something out or i'll put Olimar up to the task lol.

the humidity here has been SO LOW. like high 20s low 30s. no bueno. i'm not sure what the ideal humidity is but it's clearly not in the range we're at now. the leaves are visibly... thinner than one might expect and feel a bit leathery/velvety. i'm not 100% but i'm fairly certain it's the humidity. anyhow, i went to walmart (THE HORROR) today and spent $15 on a Vick's humidifier. in like 15 minutes it went from 34 to 41%. thumbs up.
here is the blue dream, who is really feeling the effects of the dry air. i know the affected leaves look like they've been munched on by a caterpillar but i assure you, that is not the case ;)

blah. we added a humidifier into the tent. it's doing an okay job but the humidity just won't go above 48/49%. i'd like it to be closer to 60. the only way we can get the humidity that high is if we turn off the big fan completely, and that's really only feasible when the light is off (or it gets too hot). but then, the humidity is at like 80%... bleh! i guess the mid 40s is better than low 30s but still. i feel bad for the plants. it's like they need lotion... lol

also... i posted a thread in the Grow Setup section re: humidity if anyone feels so inclined to take a gander and help a sister out!

i moved the humidifier to the other side of the tent and that really did the trick. yay! humidity is close to 60% now. there's a visible difference in how the leaves look and the stems are already stronger too! woohooo!
i also sprayed azamax for the first time today. another yay! no bugs we know of but better safe than sorry.
