Can anyone offer me ANY advice for growing at 7,000 to 8,000ft. I will be in some foothills in the Colorado Rockies. I am used to growing in the hot humid southeast so this is very different. One person told me to try Swiss Miss or Early Girl but I have not actually talked with anyone who has used either one of these strains so I dont know if they are any good. Please Help me or at least tell me it is impossible so I can start getting over the fact that I am back to buying herb for 50 an 8th...that makes me sick just thinking about it!! HELP ME!!!

I can't really offer you any help, aside to say, anything is possible... if you've done it before, you can do it again. Just think of all the excitement this new environment has to offer...

im just throwin this out there but smkerE knows his shi* i have yet to learn how the altitudes of Afghanistan compare to the rockies but those strains have not proven super valuable in adverse environments far as i have seen and afganni is a tried and true land race strain...of course there is more too high altitude growing than that i would wager but when in doubt go with something hearty.

I hope it works man because im going to try to grow a whole field at 11,000 feet in the rockies. unless I think i can find some other place where no one is going to noticea whole field. I have done some research and i dont think altitude is the problem but shorter seasons and colder nights basicaally harsher conditions. I have been looking at swiss or mountain mist which might be the same things, Pure afghani indica, and a few other hardy mould, cold resistant fast flowering plants. I would like to stay in contact with you since i have never actually grown.

Here is a bit of an up date, I m looking at Holland's hope, early misty, and mountain mist. I sent an email to marijuana-seed.nl and these are the strains they recommended to me. also I asked if they would offer a discount on a bulk order and they said they did so if you want to go in on an order it would save us both money. Oh and I'm still going to try a pure Afghani indica just because i believe it is hard to improve on nature when it comes to survival traits in plants

I'm at 9350 feet practically on the Equator.
Nice climate, stable. Low at night 39 F and High at day 85 F, usually around 75F

what strains do you recommend. i was thinking of Barney's LSD, Lemon Amnesia, G13 Haze & Laughing Buddha

Great thread, if anyone gets it going in the mountains, please get a journal going. I'd love to see some pics and read a great mountain journal.

I'm looking at getting Red Dragon, Utopia Haze, LSD, G13 Haze and Amnesia Lemon. However where I live is at a high altitude, do you recommend I grow these strains or are there others you recommend would fair better in these conditions? 2820 M (9252 feet) altitude, The climate in the Andes varies according to the altitude and the time of the year. In Quito the temperature ranges from 7 degrees C (55 F) at night to 26 C (78 F) at noon, and averages 15 C (64 F).

High elevation is good for the production of quality outdoor marijuana. Your plants are closer to the sun. That's a good thing. The season may be shorter than in some places but that just means you run mostly indicas or hybrids that are indica heavy, you can still get away with 60/40's either way (indica/sativa) . ANything really sativa dominant will not work unless your latitude longitude is somewhere near the equator. SKunk#1 from Sensi seed bank is very fast flowering and is a very good yeilder. Afghani strains are almost all great for mountain climates and fast flowering. Use some proper nutrients, advanced nutrients brand or fox farms but make sure to use at least a 3 part program. AT LEAST. Unless your going organic and then youll need bone meal, blood meal, bat guano and other amenities. Do not worry. If your in northern colorado I would watch out for hail storms. I have heard that wrecks crops up there. Good luck!
-P.S. Where do you think all the afghani's, pakistanis, and kush's came from? You guessed it..mountainous regions! Very high elevations..

I'm at 8600 in Bogota Colombia 12/12 sun basically all year round. My problem is the 46 f degree nights. A little chilly. Growing Colombian Gold. Looking into making some kind of green house for my patio to help with the cold at night.
