Waste of time
I went to the High Times Medical Cup in San Fran this past June...it was amazing! I got like over an 1/8th for free, 3 free glass pieces, 3 free t shirts, free DynaGro nutes, and a free 12 pack of Grapefruit Krush by Emerdal Triangle, valued at 80 bucks!...Not to mention as soon as I stepped into the patient area, I was handed a bag of vape from one of the dispensary tents, TONS of free edibles and they were giving away tokens for free hits at one of the hash bars...it was ridiculous...I've been a HEAVY smoker for years and years, and within 20 minutes of stepping into the patient area, I was GONE...lol...ate so many edibles and smoked so much free vape and weed...definately a fun time...

On the flipside, I just went to HempCon LA, and feel like I got raped...they didn't even have a patient area! A fucking joke...but I don't hold this against any High Times event, cause High Times seems to do the weed conventions right!

You have to drive around to the dispensaries to test out the pot? They don't even have any onsite to test? No free bud? Wtf? Sounds like a waste of time and money....

Yeah that's true too, it would be even more of a waste of time lol. If they would've known about all this drama ahead of time I wonder if they would've still scheduled this here.

All the drama could quite possibly be the reason they are comming. They knew of the drama and the potential of more drama for a while. I don't remember which issue it was in, but they had an article all about the difficulties of MMJ here in MI.

As far as I know, most dispensaries have just turned into co-ops that no longer sell but rather require a "donation". The appeals court only ruled that commercial sales and p2p sales are illegal. Charitable donations in exchange for meds is not illegal nor is sharing with other registered patients illegal so long as no sale is involved. That means caregivers & co-op's that will be attending can give their meds away for free or just ask for a small donation....or they can sell you a t-shirt for $50 and give you an 1/8th of free meds with every t-shirt purchase...I don't see any complication. I'm booking a hotel for my wife and I as we speak. Should be a good time and I hope to see y'all there!

After reading up more on the event I think I'm gonna pass. Things are just a little too much up in the air with the legal issues surrounding these collectives and dispensaries to expect this whole thing to pan out and have participants actually show up. The page specifically states that only state approved dispensaries will be allowed to enter the contest but with the recent appeals court ruling, there are no legal dispensaries so how on earth do they plan on making this thing work? I would be awfully pissed to show up after making the long drive, paying for a hotel, paying for the tickets, paying for gas to get there and back, and then ending up with just listening to a bunch of speakers because no dispensary / co-op owners participate. That would be a serious kick in the nuts to be disappointed like that so no go for me.

Just shot them an e-mail asking specifically what their plans are and how the recent court rulings will hinder those plans. I'll post the response when I get it.

Are you kidding me folks?

Ill be enjoying the weekend in Detroit with my own best meds, good friends, and folks I enjoy listening to no matter how far I have to travel. Alaska comes to Michigan in support of both the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act, and High Times!:blsmoke:

Now that's dedication to the cause! You should look into teaching a seminar on SCROGs since you're going - seriously.
