Hippy Grow Box - Natural Starting Inside in Front of a Window (???)

I'd like to start as early as possible to give the boys and girls long veg cycle. there's no frost danger after 1st of march in my location. I hear that too early of germination isn't really optimal (I forgot why
). but I don't think starting them outside is a clever idea, expoising young lifes to the dangers of cruel outside world.

my idea is to start them inside and make a natural growing box in front of a window :) and then plant them to the spot after they mature. this growbox would be made of foil pasted on cardboard. this way light exposure would increase a lot because of reflecting properties of foil. plants would also receive direct sunlight for a couple of hours. with open window during the day I would also have natural ventilation system. this window I'm talking about is faced towards south (light all day long) but it's not too big of a window. I guess the key would be not to disrupt the sun cycle by closing window shutters :D and maybe not to start germenating too early??

how does this hippy idea sound like, an utopia or a real possibility?

Forget the foil and use something thats white. Even plain white paper is better than the foil but if you cau use flat white spray paint it would be better. Temperature is not the only reason that you shouldn't put them outside early because marijuana plants are photo sensitive. You need to move the plants to under some type of light to make sure they are in light at least 16 hours a day so they don't start to flower early.

Its a real possibility but they will outgrow that small window soon so you will want to put them in bigger pots and bring them outside daily then back in for the extra hours of light.

wait a minute they need to be on direct light for 16 hours, or days need to be 16 hours long (indirect light)? I think that's a big difference, I would need to take them outside everyday, right. anyway I shouldn't start the germination before days are 16+ hours long. I thought that silver foil is more reflective thing than white surface?!

I'm awere they will overgrow that window soon but then they could be ready for outside transplantation I guess.

thanks.

well there's one little problem with what you're saying about 16 hours of light. in my quite sunny location the length of the day (light) on summer solstice is only 15 hours and something minutes :D which meens the day is never 16 hours long. you must be right for indoor growing technique though.

I would guess that plants feel the spring and day lengthening when under no-artificial light. nothing to worry about. but still I'm interested in my question about plants being on direct or indirect light which is sun. eventhough that window is south oriented it doesn't receive direct sunlight all day long.

I find this thread really interesting. :bigjoint:
