HLG550 v2 r spec

Hi all need some help with led
Running 2 tents with 4 plants per tent. All have ak47 strain and planted at the same time. Iv always run x2 600w hps over 4 plants.
recently purchased x2 HLG550v2 reds and put them over 4 plants while while the x2 600w hps are over the other 4 plants
The led took 7 weeks veg while hps is max 4 weeks to hit my normal height mark

and now the hps plants flowers are twice the sauce as the led flower. Every one says these hogs are the best but I’m struggling to see how and why.

All 8 plants were grown under the led lights for the total 7weeks veg period then 4 were places under hps and the other 4 left under the HLG550

i'm just using my leds as supplement to hps and cmh now, learnt the hard way, lots of cash and time wasted.

yeah I recon mate... growth under the less is slow and the flowers are small compared to my 600w hps.

Don't blame the tools.
Mine shit all over 3x600 hps using around 12-1300w.

Did you go with higher air temps with the LED Mr ak47?
What distance did you have them above plants?
How big are your tents?

When growing under LED you need to run your grow area at a warmer temperature. This is because the LED lights don't have the infrared output that is commonly associated with the HPS lighting. The infrared light warms the leaf surfaces and that is key to the plant achieving it's maximum metabolic rate. Running a LED grow in the mid 80's is generally what it takes to get those leaf surface temperatures up to par. 83 F at the canopy would be a good place to be at IMO.

tried raising temps, infared lamps different spectrums.
as soon as i take them out put in cmh my plants respond with in 2 or 3 days. not doubting theres a knack to using them but after 18 months had enough.

you have pictures of each tent at the beginning and end flower?

36inch veg
24 inch flower

temps in the led tent only reaching 25 degrees c
How do I get temps up when the less don’t produce that much heat ?
Tent size 2m high 2.4m long 1.2m deep

It’s spring here atm and warming up. What do led growers do in winter and colder parts of the world

What LED lights did you have? I used to be the same way about my HPS, and I still like my HPS but my first run with a quality LED really blew me away. I got superb yields for the square footage and the quality was better.

Do you always veg under hps? Also what's the spectrum of the R spec? I have 2700, 2850, 3000, and 4000k qb's and without a doubt the 4k produces much better veg plants very similar to Metal Halide where as the others produce lettuce like thick leaves that grow slower in veg just like HPS does for me if I have to use hps in veg which I don't recommend.

Also to the guys saying you need higher temps for LED I've only found that true in flowering not veg cycle when vegging with 4k LED's

You must be a unique kind of grower. It is known that HPS provides VERY rapid growth in veg but with more stretch. And if you were actually talking about growing lettuce that means leaves with more elongation but not thicker.

Some use LED for summer and hps in the winter. I love LED, but they may not be the best in a cool room. Try reducing air flow to retain more heat. I've seen good results with very little air flow through the tent, try a humidity controller to run your ventilation fan.
Humidity/VPD is more important with LED...

In my experience that isn't true. Sorta recently I've done 600 MH Digilux 4k vs Ushio 600 HPS in veg and the Digilux MH grew nicer happier bigger plants. I've seen this in the past also so I've always stayed away from hps in veg unless emergency situation with bulbs blowing or ballast dying. Also when I've used 2700k or 2850k QB's in veg they do the thick leaf with less growth then the 4k boards in veg which work great. I just recently replaced a Digilux 600 MH with five 4k boards running 350w total after using 4k boards for around a year for veg in my one genetic test area.
