hmmm like 3-4 in stem with no leaves yet

is this weird? germed the seed for about 3 days in a paper towel, moved to soil and its been another about 3-4 days and this is what happened so far: First I planted the seed about like a few CM down, then after about a day i saw the seed like the shell part on top of the soil so i added more soil on top of it then the next day it was out of the soil again so i just let it grow that way. But year its this tall now and still no leaves and if you look closely you can see the shell of the seed is still like barely hanging out. And i know clear plastic is bad to grow in or whatever thats why i wrapped a t-shirt around it haha. Any thoughts?

EDIT: ALSO, I have kept this in the dark since the beginning, I was under the assumption that I move it under the light once the leaves sprout open?

VERY CAREFULLY remove the shell. Use some tweezers, just be very gentle.

then still just leave it in the dark until leaves appear?

Put it under a single cfl once it has broken the surface

all i have is a 400w mh/hps which im using throughout the entire cycle

i dont want to hurt it by trying to take the shell off even with tweezers yet but i moved it under the light with another plant i have under there thats actually a little bit shorter but has leaves already lol, crazy how different strains grow and what not but yeah hopefully the leaves open up soon

you don't have a living room/bedroom lamp??

haha i actually dont have a whole lot of furniture at the moment.. as far as extra lamps and what not

it will be fine under a hid light, seedlings are tough cookies alright. i wouldn't try and remove the shell if i were you, that should drop off in the next day or so. just don't let it dry out

if you keep it in the dark it will keep stretching, if it gets too tall it will easily snap over.

If you dont want to remove the shell then keep it really moist (just the shell with like a sprayer every couple hours or if it drys out)
Keeping the shell moist may help with it naturally opening up more and falling off.

ok thanks for the help guys and yeah i moved it under the light hopefully it will stop growing straight up and yeah im gonna go hit it with a little bit of mist right now

i think il give it until tomorrow morning an if its still there il take it off

I've had this happen a couple times. Do what cloud and chuck said, gently remove the shell, and it will improve within hours.
