Mouth wash is a cool idea, I'm definitely going to try that. In the past I've used a few drops of dish soap mixed with oil into a spray bottle. For the specific case of fungus gnats (they burrow and live under the top ~2" of soil), I've run a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water through the container.

every oil will kill mites, just a drop or two, emulsify with soap/etc, neem if you have it, dlimonene rocks, vegetable oil works too.
find the balance, where it doesnt kill your leaf, about 1-3% I find good, eye balled honestly. peppermint oil is my fav next is thyme.

the issue is the next batch of mites and their eggs are awaiting birth. you will miss these, and using the same over and over will soon be like a bath to the borg. change it up, dlimonene is nice, orange peel man, squeeze some into your sprayer.
better yet, if you have a fogger, or a new airless painter gun that works better, more coverage. separate the infected ones, treat the nons even better.

if you can....an ice water dip kills mites and eggs, plants dont mind much, if in later flower I'd cold shower them if I were you only..

1 million scoville hot pepper extract (2-3 drops; more and you'll need a mask to spray it)

I rotate the ingredients around to keep the bugs confused. This mix will melt white flies and their eggs, and kills fungus gnats really well. When I get white flies I usually have to spray a few times to keep them in check even so. I spray this mix with lights on, and use it every two weeks or as needed in veg, and I use it up until about 2 weeks into flowering. Then I stop to keep the neem flavors out of the buds--that stink is awful.
