well i have been go threw a bit of a heat issue i came up with this!!

My lighting is a Home made aluminum sheet folded at the sides . Y light sockets holding CFL’s
I have 6 23watts Daylight, 4 23wats soft white, and 1 43wat 1 47watt soft white.

these babies produced heat i thought that cfls were not suppose to produce heat that was the whole reason for having CFL lighting.

What i came up with a tight budget was to use a a think layer of SIRAN WRAP and cut a cardboard that i tapped at the end on side had a 4" hole for vent hose for exhaust i have a 4" 105 CFM fan sucking all that fucking HOT ASS AIR OUT THAT BITCH!!!!

TOTAL COST $150

A) You CAN buy online, not to sound like a jerk but your not trying hard enough.

B) I'm surprised as hell that the bulbs heat up enough to effect your grow yet not melt the saran wrap. Did you use a special kind?

If it lowered temp in your grow room bravo! Thats a really bad ass air cooled reflector. Go DIY

This thread should go down in the FAQ, and have its own category...
"how to start a fire in your home"

Or, how to waste $150 bucks, then start a fire....Scary....

Well when you get that many it really starts to add up. Only one CFL is not problem but you get 12 or so and you've got a lot of heat. I built a light like this myself but I have years of professional electronics exeperiance so know a little about how not to burn the house down. ;)

But in retrospect I'd have been better off just buying a simple floresent grow light. Mine works great but it's a little difficult to use because I have to constantly adjust the lights. With long tubes there'd be no need.
