honey dip before drying

Hey All, seen video of guy submerge bud`s in pan of water (room temp) with 1 Tlb. spoon honey / gal. of water. Then held down for 5 minutes then layed on bath towel till they dont drip. Then hung to dry in dark closet( small apartment refrigerator modifyed ) at: 60/65 % humidity, set to 55*-58* temp, and lots of added air circulation!! Said the dissolved honey coats when it dries to bud and helps slow evaperation by covering all pores. Plus honey is resistant to microbes, mold spores, and bacteria so this coating protects buds while they cure very slow with lots of air movement and air settings for cigar humidor. Leaves them hang for 2 to 3 weeks, they are said to taste better because they burn better by drying so slow, while holding up longer then same plant un-dipped. Anyone heard anything about this helping out!?! Sounds like it does`nt hurt and the set-up was not much to modify refer/unit. If you grow to get 1000 grs. every 3 to 4 weeks as a schedule, this thing does come in very handy!!!

Is he going to eat it? Are you going to risk a big crown by coating it in honey?

I would test it. One bud and see what you think. Sounds like it could work, but usually these things don't. Usually these things cost you a bud and a lot of time and effort, and a few bucks setting it up. Good luck and report back. I am curious.

Years and years ago, before MJ cultivation as we know it today, some folks used to spray product with sugar water/ honey water to make it appear more sticky, to give it an illusion of higher quality. Any other property attributed to the act is the working equivalent of boiling roots in hopes of higher potency. Ridiculous.

That's what I use honey for, in the rare event that a branch gets broken outdoors. I place a dab of it on the wound prior to dressing/splinting. The notion that plants can uptake simple carbohydrates, then convert them into something useful seems like another old folklore/myth. Molasses is another one growers seem to think feeds their plants, when it actually feeds the microbes which in turn feed the plants.

<grin> How about drying the bud properly to prevent mold, instead of dipping it into fucking honey? Antibiotics and bud, why not painkillers and pickles? Makes as much sense.

Why would anyone want to smoke morer sugar in any form then they have to? Do people like caramelizing their lungs?

I have a feeling that anyone who does this, is just trying to add weight and bag appeal to the bud. "Look at this shit, crazy sticky, sweet, doesn't burn well in joints, but lasts forever in a bowl and it's hard as a rock, really top end stuff"

I agree with bamfrivet.

I hear that if you mix coke with baby laxatives it helps you lose weight. More coke and you lose weight = twice as good!

Honey only has antibiotic properties WHEN UNDILUTED because the high sugar content osmotically sucks moisture out of bacteria, killing them.

Dilute the honey with water, and now instead of killing the bacteria, you're FEEDING THEM. Diluted honey is a perfect breeding ground for mold and bugs.

IMO, that's already a "fail", and enough reason not to do this.

The next important reason not to do this is because honey is basically concentrated sugar, and when burned sugar makes all sorts of harsh and nasty compounds, like acrolein.

FAIL.

Well, it also adds WEIGHT, which is nice if you're selling the stuff by the pound, though not so nice if you're buying it!
I could see it adding a sweeter taste to the stuff if you're COOKING with it, but IMO, that's a pretty stupid reason to do it; you can always flavor your bud anyway you like later.

Not as much as you'd think. Once the water evaporates, all one is left with is the weight of the sweetener.

Why would you bother.. Grow it naturally and smoke it the same way.. Don't fuck with it. I hate all of these things people do to try and make herb taste better etc.

Why grow it in the first place only to fuck it up right at the end ????????????????????????????????
