Hi Everyine..

Do you think this bulb: (Hortilux Super HPS Enhanced Spectrum Bulb 430W) is sufficient to host my entire grow process? I know some people suggest running differnt types of bulbs at different times during the process... If I were to attempt to use this bulb for the entire grow, would my small crop really suffer because of my decision?? Just wondering what you think..

Thanks and keep on smoking :weed:

I'd highly suggest a switchable ballast or MH conversion bulb(which runs only on HPS ballasts, EYE Hortilux sells these).

You can grow an entire crop with that HPS, but vegetative growth will still suffer from the highly lacking blue/UV light. But it'd be better than a conventional HPS.

You could also supplement with some fluoros for much heartier veg and flower. That'd be fine. About 1 part MH/fluoros for 2 parts HPS(watt for watt) works exceptionally.

You can get pretty good plants by just using the hps bulb you really dont need a mh.Alot of people do grows with hps from start to finish. They will just be taller and nodes will spaced further apart compared to plants grown under mh.

MH/fluoro will result in a higher node count(and more dense), which means more bud(and more dense) come flowering.

While the hps is not the best for veg..the Hortilux super hps does veg plants nicely. On par with metal halide or better. When I vegged under t5s and then threw a few plants under the super hps I could see a very dramatic boost in veg growth. I still finish vegging the last few weeks under the super hps bulb and of course use it through flower
