Just a quick update. The last remaining plants came down this morning - 76 days of 12/12.
I pulled all of the clones from cold storage for the A & B groups. Some of them looked pretty rough but most of them looked pretty decent. But here they are after 16 hours in the clone machine:
The only ones that look even half way decent are the ones that were very large when I took them. I'm chalking this one up as a total fail but I'm not going to give up on holding clones in a fridge. I held these for 2 months. Maybe that is too long. Maybe there was too much moisture in the bags. Maybe small cuttings stand no chance and you must take large ones.
At any rate, it's looking like I'll have to rely on the reveg. They will stay in here for a few weeks and then I'll move them to a different spot. Lights will be on 24/7.
Chapter 10 prep is underway...

(5) Green Crack from Humboldt - only 5 of 10 have popped and I'm pissed.
I spent all day pondering what else to add and I decided to give one of my crosses from Bodhi a go:
(12) Guava Wookie x Lemon Hashplant
Had to free up some hanging space but I'm using my bread rack...here is some CBD on day 7 drying:

Thank you. I'm still around and working hard but I just took a pause from journaling. I'm in full blown breeding mode and about to do a pretty big sift.

I just wanted to hop in and give a brief update of where I'm at. I feel like I will likely resume this journal very soon.
I attempted to reveg each and every plant from Chapter 9. I think there were 17 plants. Only 2 plants made it...Chem 7 and Chem 9. The other 15 tried and tried but eventually gave up and died. As luck would have it, Chem 7 and 9 reviewed exceptionally well. In fact, Chem 3, 7 and 9 were the chosen keepers. Finding my chem keeper was the top goal.
After Chem 7 and 9 were in full blown veg, I began taking clones.
Chapter 10 was also underway...a variety of things. Some Green Crack, Mountain Temple from Bodhi and then some Lemon Hashplant x Guava Wookie that I had crossed a while back. Chapter 10 was meant to sift thru the GC's and also have a bit of experimentation with the others to see if anything magical might be possible. I created a fem spray and sprayed (2) Chem 7 clones and (2) Chem 9 clones. I took clones of all of the GC's and timed things such that I was able to create 8 different GC crosses (GC 1 x Chem 9), (GC1 x Chem 7), (GC 2 x Chem 9) and so on. These plants just got harvested 3 days ago and seed collection has begun. The big sift of these begins within the next week or so. I also flowered out a few Chem 9's and Chem 7's just as a revisit. And lastly, Goji OG reviewed incredibly well. Because none of them survived the reveg, I planted more. I have 6 females going. Clones have been taken. These 6 will be getting seeded from both chem 7 and 9.
One plant to show for tonight. This is Chem 9 on day 67. She grows such a massive cola I had to go back to my smallest containers...the larger containers just let her get too fuckin massive.

Chapter 10: The Selection
Day 52 (12/12 from seed)
It's been a long time since I updated this journal. I've been working really hard and I guess I just haven't made the time for this. A lot has happened over the last 6 or 7 months. The title of this post could easily be called Chapter 12 or 13, but because I've been absent, I'll keep the numbering as is.
I have so much to say and share and it covers a broad range of topics. It's just too much to try and put into a single post. I'll give a high level summary and then itemize the specific topics and we'll cover those in great detail over the coming days and weeks.
Last March I left off doing my first big pheno hunt. I had taken clones of everything and tried to hold them in a fridge. This did not work for me. I ended up having to try and reveg fully flowered girls. Some made it. Most did not. My primary objective during Chapter 9 was to select one or more Chem's as that was what I had decided I wanted to start my breeding program with. 3 Chems were chosen: Chem 3, 7 and 9. Chem 3 never made it through the reveg but 7 and 9 did. I nursed Chem 7 and 9 back to life and began taking clones.
The next step was to grow out what was to be the breeding partner for these two Chems. I'm not going to reveal what they were, exactly. But they had a similar genetic makeup to Mass. Super Skunk from the early 90's. I planted 10 seeds but only got 5 plants. At this point, I'm 3 or 4 months into my DIY nutrient regiment and things went downhill quickly. All 5 of these plants ended up being terribly sickly and just awful looking. I think this is partially why I stopped journaling. I was way too embarrassed to show these.
I took 2 clones of Chem 7 and 2 from Chem 9 and was easily able to make them male by spraying them with Silver Nitrate and Sodium Thiosulfate. I will cover this topic in a future post. The Chem 7 turned male but did not produce pollen...or I just didn't let it go long enough to do so. Basically, pollen sacks would open but there was nothing there. Chem 9, on the other hand, was a total stud. The Chem 9 male pollenated all 5 of the previously mentioned plants. I got some seeds, but not a lot. The Chem 9 male also pollenated a Chem 9 female and a Chem 7 female. I wanted to have some seeds from these two...just in case I want to revisit at some point.
During all of this, I grew out another batch of Goji OG F2 and I hit all of them with Chem 9 pollen.
Just this week, I collected the seeds and I have tons...super happy with the bounty.
And finally, onto the main event. I have 26 plants right now that are the Chem 9 x Mystery.
There are 2 main pheno's I'm seeing with a handful of total random variations.
Lets see some pics - again...we're at 12/12 from seed. Day 52. And small ass pots...my breeding pot size: 0.6 gallon. Coco and Perlite. DIY Nutes.
The following posts will start to go into depth on the topics I want to discuss such as container size, light intensity, fungus gnats, DIY Nutes, and lots more.

Things are going great. Hard to believe we're still 6 weeks til finish. This is going to be a brief update - just some pics of my favorites so far. We have 22 in total and so far 6 are getting an A grade from me. But you know how it goes...just because something looks amazing doesn't mean it will be amazing. That said, I am really happy with the smells I am getting. The sweet/sour/diesel is what I am targeting and some of them have it. Quite a few of them are showing some of the red colors which are coming from the Chem 9 I selected. All in all, I'm happy.
