how am I doing?

Hi I am a first time grower, I planted 3 seeds after they germinated but instead of dropping time in a hole and burying them I just placed the roots facing down with the seed exposed on top. I proceed to water them and run the double lights from my fish tank for the first 4 days 18/6, I was trying to be cheap so I used the dirt from outside which was a bad idea because the dirt from outside became a hunk of mud. I transplanted them to fresh store bought soil and continued to water them,the seeds fell off the top naturally. Now they are about 8 days old I have upgraded my lights to 2 60v fluorescent lights(my room light I know I need to invest into a new lighting setup) that I'm running 24/0 now.

Any tips would be appreciated I am just using plane water ATM I cut up some orange piles and threw it into the soil I still don't know what nutrition I need thanks

how do you get them to grow upside down like this. is this that new vertical inverted growing I heard off? looks good, better than me
