How big for 20 clones?

How big would a mother plant have to be to take 20 clones at once?

Would I need more than one mother plant?

Assuming it has been grown under optimum conditions...

Obviously that'd be a bit of strain on any plant. If the plants healthy, with 20 tops and good lower growth, I don't see any reason, other than temporary retarding the growth, that you couldn't take them all. I think I'd put it in the dark overnight after, preferably a couple days after watering, when it doesn't need any, myself.

Hey man I was just browsing posts and came across this one. I've been told that once a plant takes on the 3-4 leaf pattern that it's "stuck" and will always be a low yielder for the rest of its life. About a couple months back I threw out two of my favorite mothers because through trial and error shocked the hell out of them and they took on that trait. I have another plant that is developing new leafs that are all 5 pointed, but also has some 3 and 4 pointers. I could use some advice... should I execute the plant or wait it out and It'll come back?

What I was planning on doing was growing a mother for 20-25 clones and then killing her. Then cloning one of the clones for a mother plan for another 20-25 for the following harvest....

Would that be possible?

I would shoot for more mothers taking less at a time. I keep 2 mothers and take about 10 cuttings at a time from each. That has worked well for me. If you have the room and are patient you can grow the kind of mothers that can throw 20 cuttings at a time. I do not have the luxury of that kind of space for my mothers so I LST them and keep them short & bushy.

I'm gonna go have a look at my fems today and see how many clones I could have taken from one of them had I not have flowered....

I'm starting a new indoor grow in 4 weeks, when I'm done doing that I want to start a sog system so need some method to get 20 fems...

It would be possible, but why the hell would you want to kill a good mother plant? Just keep taking clones from her. Isn't that the whole idea of having a mother plant?

What I'm thinking of doing it buying 10 feminised indoor seeds...

Out of these I need to get enough mother plants for 25 clones for the following grow (sog), so 2-3 mother plants to be on the safe side.

No whats the best method to do this? Do I top 2-3 plant and use the plant or the cutting as the mother plant? How long would it take either a plant or a cutting to develop to be able to give off 10 cuttings... I will be growing under a 600w MH for veg. I have a seperate room where I can keep mother plants under a cfl.

Sorry for all the questions but I've never grown indoors.

One plant is fine for this, just grow mom big and fat in a large container under strong light and she can keep on giving as fast as you can take.

Even a bunch of flouro's would be fine, but you can't count on cloning clones, killing or flowering moms, and hoping the next clones are large enough to give 20 plus more in time.

Try both ways and you'll find it's just way easier to grow a dedicated mother or two.
