How big is your reservoir and for how many plants?

I got a friend who told me he's growing 4 plants and using about 30 gallons in his res. To me that seemed like a bit much. So I'm curious what type of hydro set up you got (dwc, ebb,etc..), how many plants, and how big your res is. Thanks for the info.

I run 4 in a dtw with coco and I use 18 gallons a week. It takes a couple of extra, just to get to where the pumps can pick it up, so actually about 21-22 gallons a week.

I keep it small 10-12 gallons maximum and I change it every 7 days.

Right now my res for flowering is 850 PPM starting 3rd week of flower.

Thats 10-12 gal. reservoir for 1 plant in a 3x3x6 tent with 400 watts HPS and 180 watts in T5 CFLs

I keep it small 10-12 gallons maximum and I change it every 7 days.

I'm running a self contained aeroponic system in a 55gal tote. I use about 20L think that's 5gal, just covers the pump by 2cm. I change it every week.. Topping up between changes.

I have a "heart" which holds about 12gallons of water. As water level drops due to evaporation and my plants drinking, about 10gallons per day) a float valve opens which drains water from a 55gallon drum. The drum is just filled with tap water, no food, no PH adjustments.

12 plants 55 gal. Once they are in flower 5+ weeks they suck down the water fast! close to 10 gallons a day. I have to go from changing the rest every 7 days to every 5 days.

Just wanted to pass on a little info I used when I built my Ebb and Flow grow system. I was able to build my own system for way less money than buying a ready made one. After you decide on a flood tray , you will need a resevoir. Here is a formula to figure out what size you need.

Once you have chosen the tray size you will then need to size a reservoir for the tray. The calculation for this is quite simple: Height you wish to flood in the tray (H) x Width of the tray (W) x Length of the tray (L). For this calculation it is best to convert feet into inches. Then multiply the cubic inches by 0.0043 to convert it into gallons.

Example:
For this example lets use a 3’ x 6’ Botanicare tray. The plants will be growing in 6”x6” rockwool cubes, thus the tray will flood up to 4”.

Reservoir size required (gal) = ((3’x12) x (6’ x 12) x 4”) x 0.0043
= 36” x 72” x 4” x 0.0043
= 45 gallons (minimum)

Been using a single res dwc for four plants. It holds 18 gal but I only fill it to about 14. One thing I didn't account for at the start was how much water the root balls displace when mature. I mixed 16 gal when they were just wee seedlings but over time I needed less & less water. They are in reveg now...

I have a 20 gal res but i use 16gal, have grown as many as 6 plants and have grown as low as two but the two where massive because there is more room for the roots to grow also have noticed that with more plants some tend to be stringy ir low yeilds, some just get choked out by the bigger plants roots so they kind of a waste. I rather grow two huge plants than 6 little plants.

3-plants in a custom DWC/Top-Feed hybrid reservoir. consistently produces high-grade medicine. started out with placing 6-plants, but more is not better with my custom system, so I went down to 3-plants. Amazing results, 2.5 - 3.25lbs per 3-plant reservoir every time!

reservoir is 30 - 35 gallons, depending upon how long the plants have been in there. you lose water volume over time because of unrestricted root growth.

peace!

24 - 5 gallon buckets with 6"netpots in a lid. Airstone in the bottom of each and it floods for 1 and half hour then drains back into rez which is 180 gallon with a 1/4hp chiller...

Started as a normal ebb n flow which worked perfect when using all medium inside buckets like normal. Then i took insert. Buckets out and used a lid with netpot for whole bucket to submerge in water and more root room and ran into water issue so i added a airstone and made it a bootleg bubble bucket. But jesus my growth is insane compared!
