How can i control the smell (help)

it's the smell. i'm trying to contain the smell but i can't the smell is being pumped threw my portable a/c unit and is reaking up the garage and possibly getting outside. i have already added stove top vent carbon filters tapped directly over the intake of a/c and it is not working........now whats the deal with (ozone genarators) are they unhealthy to humans???? i've heard that they are hard to use without changeing the quality of the surrounding enviroment.my question is can i use this in my garage with out harming my health.and how exactly do they work????

I use carbon filters (from the hydro shop) hooked up to fans. It works great.
