you get better veg with mh and better flowering from hps......I'd just feed it water if you wanna just keep it for a mother

You should still give it nutes....you need it to create new growth everytime a clipping is taken. Make sure it is high in nitrogen (it helps strong root develpment and stem growth). I wouldn't give it nutes EVERYTIME because of the fear of it locking up you should give it straight water every now and then just to leach it a little.

You dont need an extreme amount of light but enough for it to regrow what is taken. I would put it under a few cfl's somewhere around 100-200 watts or so....Idealy you should use side lighting if possible so the whole plant can grow evenly allowing you to take more cuttings, and more often.

For the most part you just care for it the same way you would as if it were in veg

ok. when i do dicide to flush/leech with plain water i still have to ph correct water don't I? also what kind EC can i get away with when feeding my mother, high or low dose? currently feeding my mother with Canna A+B at 1.5-1.8 EC ....this sound about right?

I was just mainly saying that you shouldnt feed everytime....give straight water every other time or every third watering. You aren't actually gonna leach the soil unless there is something going wrong

Yea you should always know what your Ph level is, and adjust accordingly, no matter if it is straight water or not

If you know what EC all the other plants in veg can handle I would stick with that dose.....this should still be considered having it in veg because it will need to create new vegetative growth because of the clippings being taken.

I flush once a month to remove salt buildup, that way I have no problems, but a mother only needs to be fertilized like a house plant. Maybe once every 3 months, and I'd advise a good flush with 1/8 strength nudes at the start.

There is so many different ways that people take care of their mother plants......What you are going to have to discover is what works well with the strain that you have.
