how do we get a independent news station?

News is a product and people won't buy it if it isn't pre-digested for them. They don't just want news, they want to know what it means. And that's where bias and perceived bias comes in. I don't see a problem with that, people aren't fooled so easily. They don't watch MSNBC and have their minds changed, they watch it because that's their bias already and they like their news to validate what they already think.

I don't really care what news organizations say "about" the news as long as they do the news. Tell us what happened, all of it, and then go ahead and interpret it all you want. The failure of news today that is colored by the left is its sins of omission. They simply do not report what is negative to this administration. Never in history have important stories simply been ignored by the media. THAT is why so many people watch FOX. They understand that there is some news that they will not get elsewhere. And whether they agree with the Fox spin or not, they want the news.

Here's some bad news for the left: this is changing. First and foremost- the media are whores. They want stories. As long as Obama "was" the story, as long as his speeches seemed fresh and the hopey changey was still there, they were happy to grovel before him and ignore anything unfavorable to him (lest they be called racist). But now the glitter is gone. His speeches are dull and no-one is hopey anymore. His approval is lower than any president ever at this point in their term. Gulp! The story is rapidly becoming the FAILURE of Obama. And when a certain tipping point is reached, and there is enough blood in the water, the lefty media whores will be on his carcass like a pack of wolves.
Good points. People like their preconceived notions validated and reinforced. Cognitive dissonance is scary.

Good thought, but thinking about it further, your news station wouldn't make it. Each person, because we are human and have reasoning minds, form our own biases and opinions. A completely "neutral" news/opinion program would be way too boring. Kind of like a mush made from carrots and peas. :)
Hey! I like carrots and peas.

Any station I would be involved with would not be neutral, but it would attempt to be truthful. It would probably have plenty of targets to discuss / attack provided by statists from both major political parties.

It would only need to be about one watt.

ok so i see that it would basically be impossible to have an unbiased news station. would it not benifit us to have a news station that gives the whole story, and not put any kind of spin on it? i mean just show the news and let the ppl watching it make up their own minds on what it means.

start one and run it without ned of advertisers who through thechain of supply and demand are essentially a smal cabal of megacorps who call the tune because with them you dont have the funds to runs a station. wait til you see the paperwork for the fcc license got the bucks for the lawyers to decipher that codex of bs? The big boys (thiefs/lords and lourdess of the serf class newly reinstated ) have the say in the whole damned process the game is rigged and it''s all upside down.
A good news source is unknownnews.org non biased in extremis wot=rth the effort.

Our network allows people to host here own show via blogtalk radio or talkshoe and we allow all people to submit articles to the local mag. But liberal 'speech' does not sell. No wonder Air head America went the way of all dodo's go.

There is nothing wrong with being conservative. But all of you who are convinced Fox News is fair and balanced really need a dose of reality. You also obviously don't watch any of the other channels. I have no problem with media being biased. To me its what makes Fox News and MSNBC the most interesting to watch. Its the extremes from both sides. Only difference is anybody with any sense can see MSNBC is clearly liberal and Fox is clearly conservative. Only difference is MSNBC doesn't run promos every commercial break trying to convince their viewers they are "Fair and Balanced" and "We report, you decide".

I listen to NPR and I see how they do what they do!

Audio Engineering is one thing but Social Engineering is another and NPR is the best at social engineering!!

No wonder it's suppoerted by everybodies money!

Tax supported NPR!

And they provide over 1/2 of their programming to rightwingers too!!!

Gitty up!! Get it !!??

I don't need any convincing. I'm already convinced that FOX has a conservative bias ... and that's exactly why I watch FOX. I feel comfortable there.

On the other hand, I also watch some left-wing crap too. The last time I watched Bill Maher I shorted out the TV when I pissed all over it.
