How do you cure?

I'm just going to give my general thoughts on drying/curring...I found cutting a cereal box open and placing buds in there works better then brown bags...I also use Grove bags and use a moisture meter to test when I know it's time to put in bag...I wait till 12% wood moisture...I press the points down to the stem...as Grove bags suggest to keep temp at 60°f I use a wine cooler for this works 1great 60°f all day plus good seed storage...

I cure either in Mason jars or vac seal my shit. I just don’t vac seal it into a solid block. Just enough does the job. Lately I’ve considered trying the CVault containers without the Bovida packs.

I’ve read some great feedback on using steel containers. Gotta be just as good as jarring or vac sealing if not even better.

I have collected so many mason jars and drank heaps of coffee to get useless large coffee jars

so glad im done collecting that garbage

The sound of jars clanking together still give me anxiety from time to time lmfao. Duffel bags full of mason jars. Clink clank clink clink clank

I need no humidity packs using Grove bags.. and I don't seal mine I buy the better don't ones with the better zipper....and no jars at all and they got pound bags....I got one of size....

I myself didn’t like the grove style bags. I never had good luck with those types of bags. I try to stay away from anything plastic except for occasionally using food grade vac seal bags. CVault has a website I’m pretty sure. They have containers as small as just big enough to carry around a little stash on you, all the way up to I believe containers that hold up to like 2lbs. They’re expensive but you get what you pay for for sure.

+1 for mason jars. I found the best practice is, you have to get new lids every so often.

When the coating on the inside of the lid gets scratched, or sometimes they'll just get an odd smell that may not go away, like if you still use them for food or other things. Toss em & get replacement lids.

Here are some takeaways from the video:

• Dry at 60F and 60%rh
• Dry 7 to 10 days
• Bud lost 80% weight
• Harvested bud is alive. Respiration for a few days.
• Burping during cure reduces moisture content (depending on room humidity)
• Burping purges ethylene
• Curing evens out water distribution in buds

Jars if theres multiple strains, and 5 gallon buckets if its the same strain.

Been using Grove bags for a year now and had no issues. Never done jars and those steel jars are expensive..maybe I'll get some down the road.. see how they work....

Meh don't feel bad. I almost posted a thread just like this the other day because I didn't find what I was looking for via riu search. Besides aren't you more curious how people are drying/curing these days not some possibly 10 year old thread?

Good point, I grew up canning and the flat part of lids should be replaced every canning season/year. However if you aren't actually sealing them you can get a few years use. The rings don't require replacement. I use a Vacuum Sealer for longer term storage for my jars. I love that thing.

hate to say jars...but i have a bunch and new lids from canning/fermenting stuff during the off time.

I hadn't considered vacuum sealing them, but I DO have that jar attachment now so maybe give that a whirl if it lasts long enough to matter.

Yep I know the old way...I'm looking for new and improved ways of drying.. I'm liking the cereal box method....the bud dry out nice....thanks for the input...

I toss the rings when they get dented, or rusty.
