Socks. If the stitching is not perfect around the toes it drives me nuts.
Yeah I actually own (several) sock machines to deal with that. Then textile tech caught up.

I would spin Alpaca 50/50 with silk, ply with a strand of elastic and then do a painstaking, Kitchener graft on the toes. I really should make another pair. They were amazing. You can't buy that level of comfort. But modern textile tech is so close it's worth the trade off.
LOL edited, I had a betamax, better tech. Unfortunately VHS, thought crappier, gained market share.

That shit would have me tweaking screws all day long.
I have an old Singer sewing machine, the old ones with the hand crank and little shuttles.
Jees did it take a lot of time setting that thing up to factory standard. luckily manuals can be downloaded today.
I remember in the 90s when everybody was buying these knitting machines and wore knitted suits. Fucked up.

Even watching my grandma thread a bobbin and run a sewing machine.
It don't make sense to me how the needle actually works.

The needle takes the thread down and the bobbin sticks a thread through the loop or it gets the hose again

It's felt that way for awhile. Then the socks seemed to get zapped almost immediately and I began to relax, now they seem to be back with a vengeance. I agree.Let the newbs struggle I say.
Any newb is a sock until further notice anyway.
