im starting this thread for a friend he's having computer problems let me know what you guys think +rep to best answer

Hey guys,

I've got my first grow going strong now, I've searched for an answer to my question but I'm hoping some 250w guru's can help me out. Currently my setup is as follows:

Strain is a freebie Kerala Krush
250w Phillips master color cmh
HTG magnetic ballast
Growlab GL60 tent
3 gal. Superroots air pot
Super soil on the bottom half and roots organic up top
4" inline hurricane fan
Phresh carbon filter
Evaporative cooler designed for a room to keep the temps low

I'm also mainlining ala. Nugs method and she's about 8 inches from the soil after all the training and she's been vegging since the second of June. I don't know how tall I should let her get before making the switch to flower. I want that 250w to be used in the most efficient way so I'm gonna scrog this beast. So far I've had a couple rookie mistakes but nothing major and I'm chalking that up to using the foolproof super soil method and the 100+ hours of research as well as having close friends who are serious growers. So what say the 250w guru's, when should I flower this girl? I wish I could post pics but if have to research the best and safest way to upload any ganj pics to the web.

Hey guys,

So I'm not sure what's going on with the temps, I practically have a small evaporative cooler in there and I've got the thermometer under my little canopy of leaves and its reading an average of around 73-77 all power is killed (lights and radio evap cooler) when my timer clicks off but I keep the hurricane running. My light is around 11 inches from the top as I just measured it to reply here. I did indeed have some hear stress when she was a seedling and I can't seem to shake the signs. The humidity has been hovering in the 60's because it's our monsoon season here in the high desert, I could drop them by not using the evap. Since she's in air pots I've been watering every other day since mulching a couple days ago but before that she was getting daily waterings and the soil was not soggy. I'm thinking that it may have been from the heat before the evaporative cooler was placed right in the doorway of the tent.

I am going to supplement her during flower with either a top dress of super soil or some aact from my vermicompost bin. Also that nasty looking stem split occurred about 2 weeks ago whilst main lining, I gave her an aloe foliar feed and she recovered but this little bitch has been under a fair bit of stress as its my first grow and I have made a couple mistakes but I'll live and learn. Also I have to thank you again spex, if I could offer more rep I totally would, the man's a gentleman people and I wouldn't be here talking to you about this flower growing had it not been for him helping me out.

Plant looks good....flower when u want depends on how big a plant u want...just allow for at least double in height space for she will stretch first 2-3weeks of flowering...hard to say how much each strain is diff.....the top of ur soil doesnt look good tho....looks like mulch....id put her in straigh ss next time

you can measure your 250w with a light meter and see the footprint yourself, then rearange it,(think that they will double at least in height and in width).I think that canopy is what interests you and not so much the height cause you need much more penetration that the 250 w can't provide you. just my 2 cents.. she is looking good, happy growing:bigjoint:

Thanks guys,

The soil looks like ass because I munched with composted cotton burrs after reading a long thread about mulching, I am entertaining the idea of trans planting to a standard 5 gallon with fresh super soil but I can't run an entire pot of it because it's so hot. I'm not sure whether or not to do this though because I'm not sure the size will make a difference especially because I'm using only 250w of lighting.

I know that Nugs has said that he will wait till the plant responds after the final topping and bondage then transplant and let veg for another week or two until they are about 16 inches tall but I know he does outdoor grows and isn't running a small tent with only 250w of total power that's why I asked, I've pm'ed Nugs but I know the man is busy.

if you transplant i suggest giving it at least 2 weeks before you flower you can keep it in that air pot indefinitely the roots will continue to air prune so you will never have any bound problems i suggest leaving it in veg for two weeks longer let her fill out somemore continue to lst her down that way when she starts to flower and shoots up you will have the perfect canopy forget the screen with only 1 plant you don't have to scrog just keep her canopy even with lst

if i had a couple plants going i would scrog them with the larger ones on the sides and the shorter in the middle and run the screen or net like a U but i only have 1 going so no need plus without the net it lets the lower buds get light too

i keep my light about 5-8" away from the bulb i have a fan that blows between the bulb and the tops to keep air circulating obviously i couldn't get this close without the fan now ofcoarse someone is going to chime in to argue this point obviously the fan doesn't cool the air but it does in a way cool the plants A, by circulating the air in the room and B, the wind creates what is called a wind chill effect which increases convective heat loss by blowing air around, the fan makes it easier for the air to evaporate which in turn makes the air feel cooler

technically plants do not "sweat" but they do go through transpiration which is the release of water which could possibly be considered sweating thus confirming fans do cool your plants just not the air..

i feel like iv strayed away from the point... anyways if i remember where i was going i'll edit damn you short term memory

I just Boucher me an EcoAir pump to start brewing teas using my vermicompost bin, I'm also going to read into various foliar feeds to try and peek those leaves up!
