How expensive is Advanced Nutrients? Really?

I would call AN, the help desk has been awsome answering questions.
Thanks for the response, I have emailed them and i am waiting for a response.

I have told them what i am using already as a GROW and BLOOM.

I realise that i said that AN were a bit over priced and dont get me wrong i still think they are but i want to have an unbiased opinion about them so that i can run some clones using My original regime versus the AN regime.

I would have liked to use the whole AN line all the way through but i am a die hard COCO fan so im up the creek without a paddle. lol

All you have to do with AN base growing in Coco is to supp with Cal-Mag the first 2 weeks of your grow. That is the recommendation with Botanicare's Coco. As an alternative, soak the coco in organic cal-mag (cal/mag carbonate) before use. All the other AN products are Kew-Kew for Coco.

That's exactly right.

Advanced Nutrients used to have a coco-specific base nutrient called Monkey Juice, so obviously everything else works fine with it since you could use it with the Monkey Juice.

If I had to guess I'd say they discontinued it for just this reason - it's simple enough to just pre-soak it in Cal/Mg.

you guys were right.

i had a response today from AN

they said i could use their base nutes along with 200ppm of sensi cal/mag to prevent any issues.

I will be doing a comparison once i go perpetual of AN HOBBYIST BUNDLE vs GROWTH TECHNOLOGY IONIC COCO GROW/BLOOM/BOOST.

Once this is underway i shall let you all know.

I didn't read through absolutely every post but I checked what nutes you were actually using and you can cut out bud candy right now and go buy yourself some Blackstrap molasses for under 4 bucks. That's what that product is with a fancy name and an outrageous price slapped on.

Check out the end of this thread for some super good info regarding some companies bloom products and what you're really buying.

Comparing nutrients to cars is like apples to oranges. If you can buy the same product at a much cheaper price, why not do that? Granted AN does has a select few products that are nicely formulated for this particular plant but I would stay away from the bloom boosters and bud candy. You can go to Lowes/Home Depot/nursery and get yourself some Green Light Super Bloom, mix that with some blackstrap mollasses(supermarket) in your water and you have a stable and proven Bloom enhancer.

If you do want to compare it to cars.. buying Bud candy would be like buying a Lamborghine with a Honda Civic motor in it. That's about as close as I can get because the ingredients are still awesome ingredients. Just overpriced and found cheaper elseware.

Take care,

Well, it's true.

You can get cheap nutes at a local gardening store or a hardware store. But do you really want to buy nutes that are made for growing petunias? I wouldn't.

I want to grow plants that I can smoke or that others can smoke. That's just not the same as something I might grow in the front of my house.

I give props to those who are able to save a lot of money by using subpar nutes. I'm just not sure that the quality of the MJ would work for me. I'd rather have killer weed than to have more money in my pocket.

Quite honestly, when I'm smoking good stuff, I don't really think about the money I have around...LOL

I just really hope the new folks aren't looking at crappy nutes for the price and they aren't learning the right ways to grow - with high quality nutes that are made for growing. Anything else is too chemical for me and for the structure of the MJ plant, in my opinion.

Wow...been a soapbox sort of day. What the hell is in this coffee?

As with most product, you pay for quality. And once again, it doesn't matter to me what you put in your plants. Bottom line is this if you want to use the best you will have to dig a little deeper into your pockets.

My first grow was also my first experience with AN, I found you don't really need the whole lineup for great results, I used only grow a/b , bloom a/b , big bud and B52. I got excellent results with just these minimal things.

"I have never tried AN and WILL never"

That's all you had to say purple, cuz that just screams pure ignorance on the matter... The difference between you & me, is that I HAVE tried Advanced Nutrients.

I don't need to drink piss to know it tastes like piss.

I have a friend that swears by AN and he will never shut up about how amazing they are. I don't even bother arguing with him because he's just like any other fan boy. Congratulations, you have a great business model and your marketing and cool looking bottles have him and many other uneducated people hooked.

Companies like Peters and Dyna-Gro sell your entire $800 product line in a single container for $5. Do I even need to go any further than that?

Check this video out. Some AN products are actually cheaper than popular products that are considered cheaper HOWEVER alot of their products are a pure rip off

PRICE BREAKDOWN OF ADVANCED NUTRIENTS.
http://www.youtube.com/user/sublbc#p/search/11/9fm0Gh26dNM

Here is a review:

CONNOISSEUR A + B - YOU PAY $1.26 PER GALLON you mix, HUGE RIPOFF, NOTHING SPECIAL AND SAME COMPOSITION THAN BOTANICARE CNS17 - everytime you mix a gallon you are paying AN $1.26 while CNS17 comes to 0.20 a gallon. ARE YOU REALLY GETTING 5X THE RESULTS? And this price is if you get the savings from price hunting and buying a 1gal bottle.
VOODER JUICE - complete ripoff. root organics wayyyy cheaper and just as good
RHINO SKIN - only a potash product, 0.22 a gallon while silica blast is 0.06 a gallon.
Bud Igniter - rip off
Big Bud - quite an expensive product if you are doing hydro and res changes.
Bud Candy - is actually a good buy
BUD FACTOR X - much cheaper alternatives that do the same thing
Nirvana - good buy. actually cheaper than liquid karma
AN 3 part - good buy, comparable to the price of GH flora 3 part
Iguana Bloom - good buy, comparable to other organic lines
Iguana Grow - good buy, comparable to other organic lines

Yo, I have no idea about AN sadly, but I DO have valuable input for this thread. I have 2 awesome avenues besides AN to check out. I work at a medical dispensary in colorado, and tho I cannot yet grow bud to the quality of my own taste and expectation, I still know connoisseur quality meds when I see them, and sometimes I get the opportunity to pick the brain of growers who bring in that real fire. We had one grower who would always bring us this Jack the Ripper/N. lights, and one week, the same shit which was always consistent, suddenly got waaay frostier, total made the jump from B-grade to A-grade. Turns out only thing new was that he started using CANNA. Not budget nutes by any means, but I've never seen mediocre meds from that guy since he made the switch. and in addition, I've been very impressed with another amateur grower's CANNA crop.

Next grower also is amazing, I totally want to become his garden bitch to find out everything he knows, lol. Everything We get from his garden is amazing, cantalope haze, chem dog, like every diesel cross you can think of... and what HE uses isn't exactly Subcool's super soil recipe, but its close. Apparently he tweaked some things on it that I don't know the specifics of, but that recipe in general seems like an awesome way to go. You mix this soil and apperently once its mixed, it will feed the plants for their whole grow just by adding clean water, and IF they do need more food, you just add some top soil and still just give em plain ole water.

Very soon I am getting a tent and will be going with CANNA, I'll make a grow journal for sure and let you know whats up

i use dyna-gro products with great results being that its my first grow, and i had my girlfriend who knows nothing taking care of it while i was on the road... i will probably continue to use their products in the future, however i am disappointed their grow formula is a little light on the N, nothing a little micro wont take care of. however i did buy a gallon of foliage pro, just calculate whatever n-p-k i want and adjust accordingly if needed...

I may be high but I spot at least 4 posters in this thread who work for AN or are probably all the same person because the writing format is similar. The guy with 4 posts is definitely one of them.

The above nute regime is a what if scenerio. The above nutes are what they want you to use if you are using there 100 % Grand Master PH perfect Regime ( the PH perfect line is supposed to be released in Sept)

I don't currently use the entire line I use

Veg
Fox Farms Growbig and big bloom or tiger bloom (the one with the tomato on the bottle, so what I am stoned:joint: )

Flower
Sensi a=b
Bud blood
rhino skin
bud candy
big bud
cal /mag bloom
Bud Factor X
and Budswel ( non AN product)

Last grow I only grew 8 plants and all harvested dry weight ( I trim close I hate sloppy trim) was just under 1.75 lbs ( but I got slammed with mites right at the end and chopped early, I was expecting just over 2 lb. Pic is from last harvest and are 2 of the super Lemon Haze getting ready to hang

Advanced nute's are no more exspensive than any other and belive me the yeild you will get from useing them will beat any other by mile's.Use sensi veg a and b and sensi flower a and b use big bud for the 1st 3/6 week's of flowering then cut out the big bud and flip over to overdrive. The big bud and overdrive will last a good few grow's.This stuff i was put off for year's by differant site's saying that advanced was expensive but nothing could be futher from the truth, they must not have tried it.Give it a go you will not look back advanced are all ph perfect so there is no need to ph all though i still do but the ph is alway's bang on.I was getting 5/7dry now since useing advanced i get min of 8 but normaly 8/9 and that is flowering at about 2ft tall.................................tyke.....................................
