How far do you keep your 1,000 watt light above your plants?

just want to see how many different answers that i get .

i have a 1000w hood and it is about 8 inches away and my plants r doin fine

I like to keep it around 1 foot because of the heat. but my seedlings are more like 2 feet right now because they gotta grow into the light from it hanging at its limit.

i'm using a 1000w MH for veg right now, little girls are only a week and a half old...but still i only have the light 10-12 inches away

ok i allways run mine about a foot away. i raised them to like 20 inches today. i thought i had read sumwhere that 24 inches was where your supposed to be. ima fo back to a foot away

vented sheilds 1ft non vented 2ft

yeah so 20 inches im wasting hella lumens.

what is PAR

PAR = photoSynthetically Active radiation is what plant see
Lummens is what people see.
