How important are nutes?

UM.............winner of most ridiculous question I have ever seen written or heard in person.

So bad it deserves no answer.

Get a friggin book and learn at least something about any kind of plant, roses, tomatoes, lillies, anything, before asking that question again.

Are nutes really that important in hydroponics? Is it very necessary?
Nutes are totally overrated. You don't need them. You also don't need light or air or water. I've heard there is a new strain that you don't even need seeds or cuttings to grow.

It is VERY important in hydroponics. In dirt you will have some nutes in the dirt - in aqua you have almost nothing.

VERY important !
VERY necessary !

I don't usually bash, but you should have done/did SOME homework first !
That title under your name/avatar may get changed to:

NOT able to roll a joint

I know it was said it didn't deserve an answer. But I laughed so hard when Mr. Boots pointed out that you don't even need air or light or water.
What's also funny is there is a product on the market for keeping something like cultures alive somehow of your mother plants in your fridge. So you don't have to keep a million mother plants around you can bogart all the strains you want.

I personally had cuttings stay fresh and alive for 6 weeks in the fridge.

Take cutting.
GENTLY roll it/them up in a dry paper towel
Put them in zip lock bags and put in crisper drawer or on shelf in fridge.

Come on guys, this person obviously does not know so why not help him out?

Asquad- You will find on Roll It Up that there are plenty of people who think they know everything yet NEVER show anything, you have to learn to deal with it!

And as far as your question... Yes Nutrients are vital to hydroponic applications. Hydro and Soil are completely different in the fact that soil contains nutrients that are available to the plant to feed on as with Hydro you are only dealing with air and water. So, you probably know that there are no nutrients in air and water, therfore you need to add nutes (Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorous and many micro nutes) in order for the plant to grow and produce.

Flo grow,
That is a cool trick. Your fridge light turns off when you close the door?

Down on wax,
That was a wonderful explanation of how important nutrients are.

Lets look at the definition of nutrients shall we......

A nutrient is a chemical that an organism needs to live and grow or a substance used in an organism's metabolism which must be taken in from its environment.[1] Nutrients are the substances that enrich the body. They build and repair tissues, give heat and energy, and regulate body processes. Methods for nutrient intake vary, with animals and protists consuming foods that are digested by an internal digestive system, but most plants ingest nutrients directly from the soil through their roots or from the atmosphere. An exception are the carnivorous plants, which externally digest nutrients from animals, before ingesting them. The effects of nutrients are dose-dependent.
Organic nutrients include carbohydrates, fats, proteins (or their building blocks, amino acids), and vitamins. Inorganic chemical compounds such as dietary minerals, water, and oxygen may also be considered nutrients.[citation needed] A nutrient is essential to an organism if it cannot be synthesized by the organism in sufficient quantities and must be obtained from an external source. Nutrients needed in large quantities are called macronutrients; micronutrients are required in only small quantities.
See healthy diet for more information on the role of nutrients in human nutrition.

So what did we get from that?? No nutrition=No life. Pretty simple to me.

come on guys, leave the poor guy alone, when i first started out i thought growing hydroponics was was all about the indoor lighting, i didnt no it was about the medium and u can grow hydro outdoors as i am now or soil indoors for that matter. We all have to start somewhere but i do admit he should have done alot more readying before posting a question like that.

nute-y McNuteness get a damn clue some of you of hateful bitches.

shit, i have 100% success rate (for years) rooting clones in UN-NUTED water.

nutes are important, yes. ...for stages after seedling.

if your tap water is anything less than 250ppm , you can root clones w/ just some rooting powder (or gel) & straight, un ph'd, tap.

He is asking about nutes in general.

I agree with you, but i think we are getting away from the OP's question.

Yes, light turns off when door is shut. lmao

Learned that trick from Subcool !

not all true guys i started with out the internet in a new house with a hydro set up i bought and a og kush strain i started with tap water and it grew to be three inches long before i got wireless and knew to get nutes and put purified water in and check ph and water temps and about ppm it was a little lime colered but was still looking good..
