how is my filter looking? just need help attaching to fan now

hey guys,

just finished making my home made carbon filter after 4 hours of dicking with metal screen and running around to get supplies. the concept is easy but this shit takes more time than it seems like it would.

i'm gonna keep my scrubber inside the grow closet. with the lights i'm using heat isnt an issue so an external exhaust wont be necessary. my thinking is that containing the filter inside the room will help that room smell less (hopefully not at all) along with the bedroom and rest of my apartment outside of the closet.

well now that it is done, how does she look? any ideas on how to hook this up to a fan? i've seen designs but the screen i used feels kinda flexible which is why i double wrapped her in panty hose.

i dont have any small fans except a box fan. right now i am thinking that i will push air through the filter by somehow sealing the front of the fan with a bag or something and narrowing it to seal off at my filter so all that air pushes through the damn thing.

i only plan on having like 1-3 plants in there so i tried to go overkill on the filter. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I just want to point out that you DO need a fresh air intake. Im sure everyone will agree. I understand by what you said that you have NO intake? I might have misunderstood but MJ plants need constant air being sucked in and blown out. You will develope ozone problems, mold and so many more horrible issues. My advice is provide an intake as well as an exhaust, you will not regret the extra effort. Anyone agree?

thanks i appreciate any help i can get i will try and +rep anyone who helps me here but since im obviously new idk if it will let me. you are right in that i will have no intake aside from cracks under my door and on the sides (dont worry, no light gets in). i will be checking on them a couple of times a day and the closet is pretty big i forgot to include the dimensions, my apologies. it is about 5x5x8. does that change anything, or will i still need an ACTUAL intake? i am not trying to skimp, i want these to come out the best possible but i am in an apartment on the 4th floor (the top level) and cant really easily carry a huge plywood makeshift door up there or cut holes in the walls, etc.

You definitely need intake when growing in a closet, you need good air circulation otherwise you could encounter problems like mould, I have grown in a closet and it needs fresh air.

If you dont own your home then you cant cut holes.....well I rented an apartment and cut a hole at the top of a closet and then used a patch to fix it, noone noticed. If possible and not worried about cops(Prescribed) then buy a new door and cut some holes, one low for intake, one high for exhaust and direct your canister outflow to the top with a good vent tube, the solid silver metel ones are the best because they wont leak light.

ok, maybe i will take the door knob off of the door and use that hole as a passive intake or something? like i said, construction in my apartment is a no go where i live :(

Why not buy a grow tent? Then you have all the extraction/intake holes you will need

i was thinking about constructing a grow tent myself using large bags and all of the usual supplies, however i feel like this might make too much noise (ie., the bags flapping constantly) to the person who has a closet that is on the other side of my wall. it is still an option, but the other problem with a tent at this point is i already invested in 4' fluoros and obviously constructing anything that wide will be a pain in the ass and i dont want to have to go cop some CFLs because i was a dumb ass.. well, i have 2 cfls but its only 30 watts output between the 2

EDIT- i have way more than enough wood to make a simple square grow box as well but carrying that bitch up 4 floors and shit is gonna be heavy and look suspicious. there are cameras in the parking lot so i am very careful about what i do in the open when coming into my building and out, you get the idea.. i dont want to make any trails

buy a grow tent! lol.. i just purchased a 40"x40"x79" grow tent for less then $150.00 Canadian shipped to my door in 5 days, it just got here yesterday :)

IM SUB'd tho whatever you decide to do, building one is nice, but dragging in the supplies is heat... buy a new door for your closet and drill holes in it at home? i think that is the CHEAPEST and BEST idea for you to do. Bringing in a new door to your building wont look bad at ALL! goodluck -Gibbs-it
