How long are we going to let Nestlé away with this barbaric evil act?

People of this world, Nestlé is draining developing countries’ groundwater to make its Pure Life bottled water, destroying countries’ natural resources before forcing its people to buy their own water back, Nestlé says water should not be a human right ?!?! really??? it falls on your head from the sky FFS. beyond sick to say the fukn least.

Nestlé are sucking up the local water supply, in Pakistan rendering entire areas uninhabitable in order to sell mineral-enriched water to the upper class as a status symbol, while the poor watch wells run dry and their children fall ill

Nestlé’s aggressive water grab is already descending like a plague on parts of Pakistan. In the small village of Bhati Dilwan, villagers have watched their water table sink hundreds of feet since Nestlé moved in. Children are getting sick from the foul-smelling sludge they’re forced to choke down.

please sign the petition if you have an ounce of decency. Thank you.

Signed. I don't buy any Nestle products since my girlfriend went ballistic at the sight of Nescafe in the cupboard.

Imagine that, the Pakistani government and elite getting better stuff than the general population. Sounds like Americas new healthcare program.

Does signing any of these petitions honestly do anything other than make the signee feel better about themselves?

Honestly, do you really think nestle is going to say.. well, we're going to stop making x amount of.dollars now selling water because a few people on the old interwebs signed a petition saying we are bad..

Serious question BTW..

New? We're capatilists buddy. That's not a new concept here. The dollar is what matters in America, it's capitalism. You don't matter, I don't matter, we don't matter unless we have the scratch to matter. We are a pretend democracy, a veil to make you feel good. At the end of the day money is the pinnacle in a capitalistic society. 'Murica!

I agree that this petition, per se, probably won't influence policy much, if at all. But I feel that signing petitions is a great way of putting pressure on people. A localized petition might get the attention of someone in your local government, who then might escalate the issue if they feel it has enough popularity to be pursued. A simple way to measure popularity is by getting a bunch of people to sign their name on a petition.

I'm not sure the goal of this, or any petition is to directly influence the company it is lobbying against, but instead to influence policy-makers to push legislation to prevent the company from indulging in certain unscrupulous practices.

My two cents.

This in a country where you can get shot for going to school. One would think if the situation was really as bad as it is claimed then the folk would ride down from the mountains and blow the western pig dogs to pieces.

Sounds like a local issue that locals need to address and resolve with their local governments.

"We" have our own water issues, so who the fuck are "we" to tell anybody else what to do with theirs?
Good point! We'll be having the same issue from fracking in a few years... but the oil companies said it won't hurt the ground water. They say it every morning on TV with the pretty pictures of gas wells... so I know it's true. :wall:

Maybe I just live around too much water, but I never understood the water scarcity problem. As the op said, it falls from the sky. Just collect it. I see more water fall in my yard during one storm than I could ever use in my life time.
