cannabis always smells... Even in veg it reaks badly. they really stink during the last weeks of flowering after the ripe stage as the turpentines kick up.

Then you're doing something wrong, because my plants don't smell at all. They are 3 months in veg and the only way to smell them is to rub a leaf or the stem...J

OH BTW, I'm growing the good good not some swag-assed bunk seed. Just thought I'd clear that up. Sounds like your temps are too high and your humidity is not high enough...J

smell become's even worse when u hang up the weed to dry that is when it stinks real good :weed:
This. Good god this. If you wet trim it's this x10 for a week or so.

But yeah the smell will kick in hardcore once you go into flower. 2+ weeks in if you have no odor control then your house will reek. 3+ weeks in your neighbors will know. You may be able to get away with up to 2 weeks but I wouldn't really risk it.
Also I always found that plants will push out a lot more odor right after watering.

it does really depend on strain. I'm growing C99 and doesn't smell very much at all 6 weeks in, My northern lights started to smell with three weeks to go, my Critical Kush smelt about half way through veg and in flower was nearly uncontrollable.

I've got the 6" 440cfm combo. Despite good reviews, I found the carbon filter woefully inadequate. The fan is good, but I'm going to buy a better filter and use this one as a pre-filter.

I'm a bit surprised because while low baller stuff isn't top of the line, it's usually pretty good for the money.

You may want a speed controller for whatever kit you buy. Get a good one if you can afford it, the cheap ones don't work very well.

It's always better to be over prepared than under. Especially when it comes to odor control.
Never go for what you think will be "just enough to get by"
What happens if it's not enough? You end up doing it anyways. Also think of future setups and what you'll be running next round.
It may kill a majority of the smell but you personally will get used to that faint odor of MJ lingering around in the house. Chances are you won't even notice it. Your neighbors on the other hand will notice it if it isn't on lockdown.
A buddy of mine does things like that and it always turns around to bite him in the ass. He skimped out on his odor control like that and by the end of flowering you could smell it down his 1.5 acre driveway.
He spent the next 9 months in and out of court and lawyer fees in the 10's of 1000's of dollars.
His exact words were "Yeah that was fucking stupid of me man. I was just trying to save a couple bucks" when I bonded him out.
Overkill on odor control is a problem you want to have.

Different plants smell at different levels at different times in their development, so it can vary. I've had some plants smell about 3 weeks into veg. But the dank-stank really gets going as the bud forms and grows. When you flip it'll take about a week to show sex and about another week to really get going, so three weeks before the scrubber arrives isn't terrible if you live in a semi-isolated place. But if you're worried about scent and neighbors, then wait another week.

in your words jointed how much humidity is good or is it a variable.? And my lights on temp is just under 100f and 80f during dark time...my humidity is set at 50%. my air con. can keep up with the two 1000w lights but the dehumidifier puts out a lot of heat and pushes the heat up to 100+... I have a 10x15 shed with a 8x8x6.6 tent inside.

I use a 4" fan/filter combo in my veg area which is open in my work room and a 6" fan/filter in my flower tent which vents out the chimney. I don't smell anything but my girl says she gets a faint whiff when she walks in the door near the stairs but nowhere else.
