How long on these babies? 7 wks flower

Hey folks, I flipped the switch on these ladies about 7 weeks ago. The tall one in the pictures is a Northern Lights, and the other is a local strain, supposedly Purple Kush. Don't know how long it's supposed to take indoors, but it's lookin more done than the NL. I've never grown inside before, so I'm not sure how long to wait. Any suggestions based on these pictures? Flowered under 400w HPS plus a bunch of mixed spectrum CFL's. Thanks in advance!

nice plants, give them another 2-3 weeks flowering, just watch them for trichome development and/or pistil coloration. Good job and enjoy :)

I would give them a couple more weeks. They're looking good let them finish!:weed:

okay thanks guys. anyone wanna give an estimate of what they might yield? I really have no idea but I'm thinking maybe two ounces off each one? that's what I'm hoping for anyway.

That's probably an accurate estimate. Might be a little more on the taller one. Are they thick buds?

yeah, especially on the small one they're really dense. I think the NL is gonna tighten up more, it's hairs are still whiter and whispier. YOu can kinda get an idea of the lengith and thickness of the buds from my hand there, but I'm tall so I have very large and wide hands...

yeah, i just flower them in a fairly small closet, so they were just a bit cramped for space. Also, I ended up with more plant than I felt the 400watter alone could cover, so added a bunch of high powered cfl's around the plants. I have two bushy plants and two tall plants, but I only posted pictures of one of each type. I had a lot of vertical space, but not that much horizontal space, so they def rubbed shoulders a bit. The tall NL is about 4.25 feet tall. Didn't train her at all. The other ones were half assedly lst'd at the beginning, so they bushed out and have lots of smaller colas. I'm curious to see which will yield more...

aight thanks man. the purp kush isn't looking that purple yet, apart from some of the leaf petioles. Maybe it's not cold enough at night? It gets down to the low 60's. It also might not be that legit, my friend who grows outdoor gave the seeds to me and said it was purps but it's locally bred whereas the NL I ordered from europe. thanks again, looks like I got a solid month ahead of me on the lights...

hey so I just made a new thread about these babies, but I figured i'd update here as i said i would. so here's the plants about 9 days after those first pics I posted. Progress? Another week, maybe? I got a 10x jeweller's loupe from my bud, and, while I can see the trich's, they pretty much all look the same, can't really tell colors. For all I can tell, they could be all still clear, which would seem weird at this stage, right? they look kinda clear, maybe....

anyway, here goes

NORTHERN LIGHTS:

This gives a good idea of the size of the many small buds all over the plant. I haven't counted em but there's tons of buds at least this size, and this photo doesn't capture the buds strechting further down this stem.

Here's some of the KUSH:

It depends on the high you are looking to get from them! if you want an uplifting/energetic high i would harvest them with in the next few days! If your looking for a more couchlock high i would let them go another week! esp the kush.... i wouldnt let that go much longer b/c then itll start to decay on the plant and ull be left with "hay bud" or bud that smells like hay. also make sure your givin your girls pure water for the last week! no nutes or ferts at all, this ensures that there completely flushed of chemicals so ur not getting the high from the chemicals instead of the bud. best of luck bud they look great and well taken care of!

okay thanks for checkin em out man. I was thinking the kush looked pretty close as the hairs are real orange and are curling up. but the leaves are pretty healthy still so i dunno... yeah just straight water from now on, gave em a bit of nutes for the last time last night. figure I'll give it 5-8 days on the kush and maybe up to 2 wks on the Northern Lights. her leaves are lookin a lot more gnarly but the hairs still need to redden up and pull back I think, especially at the very top.

Here's the best piece of advice I was given and I am going to pass it on to you... It will be an excruciating wait but it will be worth it..

Wait until all those little white hairs receede into the bud... They will be almost orange... The biggest mistake people make is harvesting early... You will know when they are ready because you won't recognise the buds, they will change that much..

Hope this helps... Laceygirl..:-)

okay, thanks for the wise advice. That's what I was thinking too, especially on the tall NL plant, the hairs need to redden up and whither a lot more. I know this is a wait and see kinda deal, but do you have any sense from your experience on how long that might take from where I am now? I'm def. planning to start flushing now, cause it shouldn't be more than two weeks right? Without a good microscope, my only two signs of ripeness are the pistil color and the leaf health, and they're confusing cause different plants are at different stages with those two signs. Like on the Kush the pistils look a lot more done (red and whithered) but the leaves are not falling off that fast, and the tall NL has f-d up leaves but lots of white, straight hairs. hmmmm..... also i feel like I'll be able to sense it when they're fully ripe, which I don't quite yet, i guess. thanks again folks!

just a warning: you seem like ur interest is more in the leaves. ur not harvesting the leaves, ur harvesting the buds1 if the bud looks like its time to harvest... harvest it regardless the quality of the leaves! if you have healthy leaves when its time to harvest that means you just got good genetics and took good care of them!

if you let the orange hairs curl back into the bud that means the plants thc has turned to cbd! then next step after this is decay if it hasnt started already...

from the looks of it ( im not there to tell you for sure but) from what i see i would crop the kush like now and give nl a week tops! plus you dont want to go more then about 7-10 days with straight water. I did an experiment with that and the bud was surprizingly less dense in the end.

If this is one of your first grows i would crop. better safe then sorry and down the line you could experiment alittle and get more experiance behind u!
