Its risky, window light will usually stretch plants. If you can get at least 1 CFL it would be worth it.

Planting indoors and transferring to outdoors can also cause stress on the plants and I don't recommend it.

yea dude sounds like your sorry to say this but shit outa luck! unless wherever you live is on a long light schedule right now? which would be doubtful..u would be much better off just waiting til the weather is better and going directly outside with your grow..

sorry dude! invest in some cheap HID you can get like a 150 watt HPS for like 70$ if u know where to look.

i heard that as long as they are in pots, i could introduce them to the outdoors daily and bring them in at night (providing it is warm enough and sunny). i have my spots picked out and dug up, but to be safe cannot transplant them until at least second week of april or later. do they have cfl lights at wallyworld or a local hardware store?

I start my plants indoors and plant when it gets warm, so believe me you can do it.

You need some sort of extra light because window light just will not be enough. And when it comes time to plant outside, the best way is to take the plants out during the day for a couple hours and back in at night, leaving the plant outside fo a little bit longer each day.

Do this for about a week or two and your plants will get acclimated to the outdoor conditions. If you just took them from inside to outside in one day then you would run the risk of shocking them. Which WILL stunt their growth and possibly kill them.

You can do it, just remember to gradually "condition" the plants.

As far as the lights, your cheapest and best option to provide supplemental light would be CFL's or standard Tube fluorescents.

You can find CFL's (Condened Fluorescent Lights) everywhere. You have seen them I am sure, they are the "Long Lasting/ More Efficient" light bulbs.

They even sell them at the Grocery Store.

took the advice on this board, bought 23watt cfl's, have two "bulbs" 4-5 inches from seedlings, so far have 5 seedlings of bagseed, i bought a timer to have lights on for 20 hrs, off for 4, for veg. the seedlings are in a plastic aquarium, each in it's own peat pot. i have 1.5 gallon pots for when to transplant, about 2 weeks maybe?? also have fan on low to keep heat down?? the fan is against the far wall. how often should i water the peat pots, seems they dry quick?? thanks for all the help so far, peace

just keep them under the cfls and then set them out in april or end of march this way the plants will be bigger strong and less likely to have probs outdoors as to if they were fresh seedlings just put outside
