Hey guys!

Hung the green to dry for 6 days & started curing 5 days ago.
The bible of green book advises opening the lid for 6 hours each day.
The bud is hard & wondering if this is typical?

Thx fellas!!

depends on the strain. usually indicas are pretty rock hard. but again its up to the genetics.

I think it all depends on how thick and dense bud on how long it will take to dry. If they are getting crispy feeling then I would leave them alone and only open once a day just to check them.

If they are getting crispy you should probably not burp them every 6 hours.
You've already moved most of the moisture out of the jar(s).
However, what is the RH?

You cannot dry your weed properly without knowing the RH of the space you are drying in.

Yes you need ventilation as well or you'll get mold.

Factors important for drying:

Temp
RH
Airflow (ventilation)
Light (you don't want any)

i would like to see some pics of this hard bud.
is it hard as in dense or hard as in when you touch it, it crumbles apart from being to dry?

It does not crumble and appears just as any bud regularly does, it's just "hard" I kept it in the dark & in 75 -81 in an indoor closet (with the door open to a normal living environment) I could take pics but it will not show the differences your looking for...

Your buds are probably not getting softer because you're burping the jars for 6 hours at a time. I think you mean to burp them for 10-15 minutes every 6 hours:leaf:

Are you sure they were'nt over dried? If they were there is no turning back. You need to have a cal III in the jar with the bud so that you can read the RH. The humidity in the air where you live has nothing to do with curing your buds, you need to know what it is inside the sealed jar.

They smell alright- like dank when hanging- now the incorporate a little of the "hay" smell too.
I've read in "the encyclopedia" that adding an apple or orange peel is cool... Going to try that-also I just took a peek at em (Thai fantasy) and they look au-sum (orange hair and frosty)!

DON'T USE ORANGE PEEL OR ANY FRUIT!!!!! Flower tortilas work great and won't change the smell like orange peels and they work better than anything Ive tried.

DONT USE FRUIT!!!!! or lettuce, or bread. tortillas, even though i just heard about this and have not tested it, IS the best method. although i wouldn't put anything in there if your still drying/curing. you only do that if you that you buy is too dry and you do not want it to crisp up on you. usually when you grow your own, you have full control over how dry or moist you like it. i have friends, all of them have their own opinions. some like dry, some don't. what i like none of my friends like. i like a little snap to by bud, but not so dry that when you break it up crystals fly off the buds. its hard to keep it the condition i like it in, its gets too dry too easy. im hoping that i can fix that.
