at least 10 for any results at all. I grow 1 plant with 7 cfl's, and i have great growth. But makesure that you get the 6500K daylight bulbs. Throwing in a few cool whites will do some good as well by mixing up the colour spectrum a bit.

from seedlings ,, i always use 1 26 watt CFL per plant ,, the 6500K daylight spectrum ... they work very well up to about 3 weeks then i add another cfl ,,, some ppl say u need alot of them ,, not tru ,, just keep it close to teh plant ,, like 1/2 inch close ,, ,, get ur lights all set up & get them moounted about 6 inches above ur plants ,, then stack CD cases under ur pots for the height control ,, ,,, dont let them touch the bulbs tho ,, they will burn ... .....

1 cfl is not doing you any good at all. It's all about lummens...1 cfl is only putting out 1000-1600 lummens, and even so your not even getting the full amount of light maybe like half of the lummens...you need at least 5000 to do any good at all. If your going to grow...do it right, you might as well just be using normal light bulbs.

at least 10 LMFAO ,, wow ,, thats pitaful u need 10 to see results LOL ,,, i use 1 per plant until the 3rd node ,, which the plant is then about 2 inches tall ,, very tight internodal spacing from teh cfl;s ,,, mabye 10 if u have a huge plant ,, but when they are just babies ,, concentrate 1 cfl with a homemade beercan reflector on the baby .... 10 is too many ,, they would be wayy to far away & do no good ,, what a waste of elecrticity

Ahhhhh....i love rookies. Pick up a book...grow a few hundred plants then come tell me you knowledge...untill then???......1 fucking cfl is no where NEAR enough light...look at my gallery to see what 7 cfl's do...then look at your 1 cfl'er plant...tell me what's better.AND there is NO such thing as too much. People like you growing with insufficient lighting i just laugh at, cause soon you all complain about problems with strethching...small growth...give it up man...don't compete against an expert who's been growing for 15 years.

No you can get cfl's with up to atleast 2150 lummens a bulb. That's what mine are....

you have me beat huh?....then an expert like you should know that you need more light...GOD you fucking people...wake the fuck up....it's about your lummens... the more you get closer to what the sun produces, around 10,000 lummens P/SQF...the better your plant will do.

actully the sun puts out 100,000 lumens give or take a few ,, o yeah N/M ,, i didnt see the p/sq f,,, 1 cfl will do teh trick for the 1st 2 weeks ,, iv dont it over 50 times & never not 1 time hav i had any problems ,,

the sun actually puts out about 55,000 lumens and yeah u deffinetly need at least 5000 lumens per plant or somewhere around there to get a result i just started growing and even i know this

Several members have kept journals using maybe 2 x 42w CFLs per plant with no reflectors and have had good yields. Regardless of how long you've been doing this, nobody can claim to know everything there is to know about the topic. While it's generally accepted that one can never have enough light, recent results have shown that if used properly, these plants can grow perfectly normal under minimal light.

What these guys mean to say is............
A vegging plant needs 5000 lumens minimum.
Not a seedling.

The bigger the plant, the more the lumen requirement.
But an average vegging mother will need 5000 minimum.
