Ok, well, I'm not arguing that. BUT...a set up using 400 watts of CFLs is just that, 400 watts and nothing else. I have never used HPS, so maybe you can help. You have a 400W bulb, but then doesn't the ballast thing consume energy? Plus ventilation...plus temperature control...plus CO2 injection? What I'm saying, and again, correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't a 400W CFL system cost less than a 400W HPS because of all the other components you need for an HPS?

that makes 240 dollars... lets see what we can get with 240

and you can use regular fans for exaust and intake that cost 10 bucks a peice and you wont have any problem with heat

hahaha.....well fuck you!!! Where were you 3 months ago when I spent 250 bucks on an awesome CFL setup!!! hahah. Anyways, I'm going to finish this grow and then maybe next one switch to an HPS system for flowering.

from what info i have gathered, using 400w of cfl's does use alot less electricity than any other HID kind of lighting.

This is what I always thought!!!! We need an authoritative user, or a website, to settle this argument. If 400W of CFLs used as much energy as a 400W HPS...why would anyone use CFL?

400 watts in 12/12 will raise your bill about 20 dollars... weather its 400 wats going to a hps, cfls, your tv, or your washing machine

Thats what I have been trying to say for years, LOL, Why in the HELL would anyone use CFL's to grow plants? LOL Good Question!

well fuck....seriously...why did I choose CFLs? I thought I would be saving a lot of money. I mean, I think my grow is going well....but how much better would it be with an HPS at the same electricity cost......fuck fuck.

you can still grow bomb nugs with cfls it is just a lot more work

400watts of Cfls uses around 1/6th of what the 400watts of high pressure sodium Grow light and thats not inc the fans and all sorts so bigt guys shows how much you know

your electricity cost is out of control.. you should move to america

Technical questions about Grow Lights there you go ass holes
30 to 40 for an 400 hps and 9 to 15 per 54 watt bulb you do the math

The only real point i can see to use cfl's is to keep heat down or u have a hight problem!
and tubes just take up alot of room.
